We got inundated with stories about Somalis and fraud. We saw the white racists gleefully cheering for the deaths of American citizens and the harassment of non-white people in Minnesota because of a scheme committed by a few Somalis, led by whites. We won't see this story being mentioned anywhere but Contraband Camp.

The Great White Grift: How SC Turned School Vouchers Into a White Welfare Scam

Have you considered a career in stealing?

Right now, the state of South Carolina is offering scholarships to 15,000 aspiring scammers who are committed to thieving money from Black taxpayers. If you have school-age children and belong to a poor, unfortunate, needy family that earns less than a measly $160,750 per year, you can probably qualify for a grifting voucher from the Education Scholarship Trust Fund (ESTF).

Of course, there are some small details.

Recipients can’t use the money for homeschooling or religious institutions. If your child attends public school, they will have to switch districts or attend a private school. The money can only be used to purchase school supplies or pre-authorized textbooks.

Also, it might be illegal.

The South Carolina Supreme Court has already ruled that a previous version of the ESTF program was unconstitutional. The revised version is expected to face another legal challenge. State legislators and the person who wrote the law have accused the superintendent of education of illegally funneling the money to white parents with zero oversight.

But if you’re white, you’ll be fine.

When the program started in 2024, most of the vouchers went to non-white students. Considering the demographics of South Carolina public schools, the distribution made sense. But with a few minor tweaks, the state managed to remake the taxpayer-funded plan into a welfare program for white people who don’t care about rules.

To be fair, none of this is new. The white citizens of South Carolina have been running a version of this state-supported embezzlement scheme since Black South Carolinians invented the American public education system in 1868.

The Original Grifters

In 1948, South Carolina was full of white grifters.

Harry and Eliza Briggs lived in Clarendon County, S.C., where the segregated school district spent $179 per white child versus just $43 per Black child. To be fair, the Briggs children were better off than most kids in the Palmetto State, which spent $53 on every white student and $5 for Black students, a ratio of more than 10 to one. The state’s white schools were worth five times the combined value of its Black schools, a disparity replicated across the Jim Crow South.

The Briggs children attended dilapidated wooden schoolhouses without electricity or running water. Some Black children in the county rowed paddle boats across bodies of water, and sometimes, one of the Black kids would drown. So, after their tax dollars funded the unequal education system, the Black parents of Clarendon County had to purchase their own school bus. When it broke down, the parents asked Superintendent R.W. Elliott to use one of the district’s 30 school buses to transport the Black kids; Elliott refused. He argued that the taxpayers of Clarendon County were not responsible for transporting Black children.

Clarendon County was more than 70% Black.

Sorry, not going to bother reading anything by an author who uses a black fist in the air as an avatar.

Good Lord, this doesn't even qualify as WORD SALAD!!! Get this crap off of the board. WTF is this???
Yes, but the limited intellect think a large number of words or large words, even when horribly misused, makes people think they are smart. It really just shows their actual ignorance.

This reminds me of a stream of consciousness essay, written by a person under the influence of both meth, and heroin....at the same time.

My god what would we do without public schools uuummmmm....ummmmm

The OP article is long on anger but short on facts.

What percentage of the kids in the program are white? Nobody knows. Certainly the author doesn't.
The article is long and full of facts of history, while you are long on excuses. If blacks are angry, we have the right to be. You ight wing whites are full of anger about stuff you imagine that's not really happening. So do not talk about somebody else being angry as if they are wrong to be mad.

So what percentage of the kids in the program are white. How many are at 500% of the federal poverty line?

Go ahead. I'll wait for your answer. No doubt forever.

Anytime a poor white person gets help from the government, black racists get angry.
