If religion is supposed to bring peace of mind and spirit, how is it that fanatics don't seem to learn this? It does not matter the religion, fanatics are not at peace with the world or with other people in all their variety.
God made the world in different colors, shapes and kind. The perfection is when they all can be seen at their most beautiful. Sometimes it takes patience till we see it. If we hate because we don't see the beauty the moment we first glance, we would miss so much that god wanted us to see and learn to appreciate.
I keep hoping to see the beauty in fanaticism. I appreciate the devout, out of respect. They have a gift of faith. Faith does not mean to be so single mindedly blind they take belief to it's farthest extremes. Faith is better when there is a quiet peace with all life on earth, when you can accept the world as god made it in all it's diversity.

Because it's not the religion that they are being fanatical about. The reasoning for the fanaticism is conflated with the religion.

If you see the very devout, and clearly you have, they don't have this shield (my word) to protect them from the mundane. That's man's world and thus is mundane.

It does not matter the religion, fanatics are not at peace with the world or with other people in all their variety.
