Gomer Pyle USMC shows what would happen if a homo were admitted into the Marine Corps.

I wonder how this prophetic program foretold what really happened when guys who were light in the loafers were actually invited to serve decades after.

Why do you dislike people based on their sexuality?

I don't dislike anyone based on their sexual preferences at all. Its just that I wouldn't want someone like Nabors to sneak behind me, particularly in a shower.

To quote Nabors "Surprise, surprise, surprise".

A lot of people dislike that kind of surprise.

Are you blaming Gomer Pyle for us getting thrown out of Vietnam? :icon_rolleyes:

That program aired almost 60-years ago. Get fucking real.

Well, the thing is, even though Jim Nabors was gay, they played him up as just being slightly retarded/slow/simple. The premise was that he was just one of those (deplorable) back woods hicks. They probably couldn't get away with even making a TV show like Gomer Pyle these days.

According to many, that show set the Marines back 20 years.

Well, if it helps any, where they shot Gomer Pyle was just around the corner from where they shot several of the outdoor scenes in Star Trek including the Rigel Fortress and the abandoned castle in Errand of Mercy where they first fought the Klingons.
