The Finest Man I have Ever Known

Thank you all so much for the kind words.
I am glad you had a Dad that loved you....
I realize that I was lucky/blessed to be born of such a man. He is my hero.
I remember as a little girl, running and jumping in my Dad's arms after he came home from work. I was so happy. I never lost that feeling for my Dad.
Tomorrow will be the first time since I learned to talk that I will not be saying "Happy Father's Day, Dad"
How old was he??
He was 78. He had never been sick a day in his life, till last August. He was healthy and strong. Till the blood cancer started to destroy him. He was a steel worker, worked in a uranium mine, and a coal miner. I just have to wonder which one gave him the cancer.....
With that said, he died in his sleep. He even got onto his tractor and mowed his property 2 weeks before he died. That was my Dad.
Again. I am happy you had a Dad to love you and you loved him...
So sorry, some "dad's, don't deserve to have that title. I understand

My Dad past away June 9th.:cry: He had acute myloid lukemia.

He was buried with a copy of the US Constitution placed firmly in his hands.

My dad was the finest man I have ever known. He will be missed. He took a huge piece of my heart with him. It is just starting to hit me, and it is hitting me hard. I adore my Father.

I was on my way to see him one last time, when he past away. It was the worst trip of my life.

I will honor all that my dad taught me. His mere presence on this earth made me feel safe and secure. I will never hear his deep and comforting voice again. :crybaby:
I'm so sorry Pixie! :(
My heart goes out for you and my love and prayers as well! How's your mom doing? (If she is still alive?)

Hi Care. So good to see you. Thank you sweety.

Yes My Mom is still alive and well. And is still as healthy as one can be. One would never know that she is 74 years old. She is a cracker jack. I love her. But am not as close to her as I was my Dad. I am so happy that she is healthy.

I know this is hard times ahead, with Father's day tomorrow and all Holidays ahead, remember the good times and his fatherly love...in time your sadness will diminish, but your memories will forever be there... (and you will meet again, someday, ;) )

So sorry Pix.
Embrace the grief. It's the only way to deal with it and maintain your sanity.
Soon enough, you will remember him with only smiles.
Thank you Ernie. I think I have been holding it all in for my sisters and my mother. I am the oldest daughter, it has always been on me to be the strong one. And THAT is the one thing my Dad knew about me. He asked me to keep the family together

My avatar is a pic of my Father when he first joined the Army
When you sleep Pixie, you will always hear your Pop(Respect) from Heaven, in your Dreams.....steven
