He and his father had to face a federal judge once in 1973 over a housing discrimination case brought against them by the Justice Department which they eventually settled.
In both of his impeachment trials Republican lap dogs in the Senate refused to hold him accountable and ran interference for him and aquitted him instead.
All his life he's been able to buy, bully, or stall his way out of the consequences for his actions.

But THIS....this is MUCH different.
Now he is facing 71 felony counts (so far) that he can't just buy or bully his way out of.
Jack Smith is about to unseal yet more indictments against him as soon as this week.
I expect the total number of felony charges against him to climb somewhere in the 80's by that point.
Then in early August his indictments in Georgia will be revealed for his racketeering scam to steal the 2020 election there.
That's liable to be a big one too: with mandatory sentencing guidelines.
His total felony count may just climb into the 100's at that point.
For the first time in his life he has lost control.
Of all of it.
There is nothing he can do to stop any of this. He cannot bully, intimidate, or buy his way out of it. He won't be able to stall or run out the clock either.
He will be completely at the mercy of his jurors, and his "defenses" against the charges are very weak, while the prosecution's evidence against him is strong.
