The best explosive for cutting steel is C-4. If you don’t have linear shape charges. Then you are better off using a scissor cut. That is where you place two charges on the beam. On opposite sides, offset the same as the thickness you are trying to cut, set to detonate simultaneously.

This is called a scissor cut because it acts like a pair of scissors. Cutting through the steal beams. I’ve done those. The size of the charge is determined by math. Everything is always math. The formula is P=3/4A. The power of the explosive must be equal to 3/4 of the area being cut.

That is for TNT. So after you measure the beams you calculate how much explosive to use. Then you recalculate for the explosives you are actually going to use. That is the RE factor I talked about.

You couldn’t just use one calculation for the entire building. The steel got thinner as you went up the building. The amount of C-4 you would use below would be too much up high. What does that matter?
