Amid all the focus on President Biden’s unsteady performance, it might have been easy to miss Trump’s answer.

Trump seized the moment to turn the debate stage — with the biggest audience he’s enjoyed since his presidency — into the latest theater for his yearslong effort to rewrite the story of Jan. 6, 2021. And he twice ignored questions about whether he would accept the results of the next election before agreeing to do so only under certain conditions.

Over the course of several exchanges with Biden and the moderators, CNN’s Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, Trump downplayed the most damaging attack on the Capitol since the War of 1812, falsely blamed the security lapses that day on former Speaker Nancy Pelosi and defended the more than 1,000 people who have been charged with participating in the deadly violence.

If Repubs did not believe the lies about Nancy Pelosi, or they weren't convinced the 1/6 rioters are patriots rather than the traitors they are, it would be another disqualifier for Trump.

I was going to write a post making a comparison between what we can expect from another Biden admin or Trump admin. Because it is top of mind for the country I was going to make the point an advantage to another Biden admin is we do not have to concern ourselves with him using the DoJ to go after who he perceives to be his enemies as Trump has promised to do........and did when he was prez.

Obviously, I know what the reflexive reply from The Following will be. They will allege, without credible evidence, the votes of four grand juries to indict Trump and his co-conspirators was a deep state plot hatched by Joe. It is, at its core, a ludicrous argument to make. But it serves two essential purposes. 1. Allows The Following to dismiss Don's criminal behavior as him being persecuted. 2.
