The Epstein List?

Now that you mention that: I'm essentially anti-ideology in general (political, religious, whatever), because I think it (among other things) robs a person of their fundamental human curiosity by providing all the answers. It creates and nurtures intellectual myopia.

But yeah, MAGA adds to it by, as you put it, embracing blatant falsehoods and bizarre conspiracy theories. I don't know how to deal with ravings that are taken as fact but are simply nonsensical. And they top it off with that weird, condescending I-know-something-you-don't-know smile on their face.
The "It's not true if it doesn't fit my agenda!" mindset is almost impervious to reason. After all Trump's baseless claims that he had won in a landslide had been rejected in every legal challenge, and hyper-Trumpers could concoct no credible pretexts to nullify certified election results in any of the 50 states., high-ranking Republicans publicly acknowledged Biden's victory in a free and fair election. Trump and his cult still could not handle it, even long after principle media propagandists Fox and Newsmax had conceded the truth.

“Newsmax accepts the 2020 election results as legal and final.”

it was a rigged election!"

I remember having a vague sense of foreboding when I saw him toss that one out there on the campaign trail. "Here we go, no proof, no evidence, this will be the excuse if he loses, and the rubes will fall for it."

Little did I know at that time, of course, that those words would be the beginning of the most dangerous period in America's history since the Civil War. By a guy who claimed the ******* EMMYS were rigged when he lost.

Yep. My thoughts as well - I was like "are they really going to follow along on this nonsense?" Oh yeah.

Such self-serving fairy tales erode confidence in democracy, and also serve the nation's enemies.

you didn't write that with a straight face, that's illogical.

When you're a political party full of deranged conspiracy nut jobs, you are eventually going to eat your own.

That is basically what is going on right now with the deranged MAGA nut jobs in DOJ feuding with the deranged MAGA nut jobs in the FBI -- crazy fuckers now at war with each other.

When your entire MAGA existence revolves around constant victimization, grievance culture, and the mythical "Deep State", this is the kind of crazy shit that is going to happen.

I had no idea who Dan Bongino was until a couple of days ago. This conspiracy obsessed, former Fox News whack job is the deputy FBI director?? He is actually the boss of thousands of FBI agents 500 times smarter and more qualified than he is???

Trump and MAGA are doomed to fail. That's all there is to it. What a ******* ridiculous clown show.
Victimhood and grievance culture better describe the social left. Intersectionality and identity politics in general are the bread and butter of much of the Democratic party.

As for the Deep State, Chomsky was one of the first people to really popularize the concept, and he's far left. Granted, James Burnham in his book "The Managerial Revolution" is credited as predicting the rise of a vast bureaucratic state among the governments of the modern world. He predates Chomsky's prominence by quite a few years. Overall, it's obvious to anyone knowledgeable of the history of various governments how much power shifted to bureaucracies over the course of the 1900s.

Anyone familiar with things like COINTELPRO and MKUltra should realize that our government (and intelligence agencies, more specifically) have a long history of all sorts of nefarious behavior. A blackmail ring used to leverage various officials across the world doesn't seem far-fetched, especially when you consider how much our agencies work in tangent with foreign ones like Mossad.

FBI Deputy Senior National Intelligence Officer Confesses FBI “Turned a Blind Eye” in Epstein Case

The Inside Scoop on Jeffrey Epstein

I was Jeffrey Epstein’s lawyer. I know the facts, some of which I can’t disclose because it is privileged or subject to court-imposed sealing orders. But what I can disclose makes several important things clear:
Epstein never created a “client list.” The FBI interviewed alleged victims who named several “clients.” These names have been redacted. They should be disclosed but the courts have ordered them sealed. I know who they are. They don’t include any current officeholders. We don’t know whether the accusations are true. The courts have also sealed negative information about some of the accusers to protect them. Neither the Justice Department nor private defense lawyers are free to disregard court sealing orders. The media can and should petition the courts for the release of all names and information so the public can draw its own conclusions.

'Reeks Of A Cover-Up': Ex-Trump Official Suspects 'Embarrassing' Info In Epstein Files

Trump will create distractions to keep people from talking about the Epstein case.

President Donald Trump has backtracked on his promise to release files related to late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and one former official from his first term knows why.
There's “embarrassing” details about Trump in those documents, according to Miles Taylor, who served as Homeland Security chief of staff in 2019.

Attorney General Pam Bondi pressured FBI Director Kash Patel into getting 1,000 employees to sort through 100,000 Epstein records and flag any mention of Trump.
“This data point reeks of a cover-up,” Taylor said Sunday.

"It doesn’t have to be criminal. “It could just be embarrassing.”

He pointed to a report in The Wall Street Journal of a strange birthday letter Trump allegedly sent to Epstein as an example of something that’s not criminal but “very embarrassing.”

What made his poll numbers go up? Did something win over liberals? No? Well then explain to me how MAGA voters are burning MAGA hats on the internet and they are losing their minds angry at Trump and Trump's calling them weak and stupid. Is this winning them back? Then they are weak and stupid.
The explanation is that democrats are lying (again) about MAGA losing their minds angry at Trump. The Epstein story is being perceived as the same kind of hoax as Russia Russia Russia. The more and wilder democrats manufacture Epstein Trump stories, the less they are believed.

That's what happening.
