Should MLK day be moved to where it can be properly observed?

Why in the fuck would the federal government set Martin Luther King Jr. Day in such a manner that it can conflict with presidential inaugurations?
IMO, that's not properly honoring the man that gave his life for his convictions.
I say the day to honor MLK Jr. should be moved. He was an integral part of American history and needs to be remembered as such.

Do you mean the orange bag O' shit, or MLK Jr.? :dunno:

How can you honor someone better than having their political party take complete control of the government on their birthday???

CBS noted that this morning and observed in the lead up to the inauguration how few black people there were in the crowd of senators, representatives, SC justices and business tycoons and suggested that was a bad look for MLK Day and that somehow, a lot more politicians and tycoons should have been black if they were to have an inauguration on this day.

And then I wondered, maybe it was because so few blacks apparently run for government office, or start up billion dollar businesses?

Apparently CBS thought it was some sort of deliberate conspiracy.

But on the bright side, who actually celebrates MLK Jr day? I don't know anybody, white, brown, black et al who does. But being a national holiday would make it easier for some to attend the rallies and inauguration.

I like the idea of making EVERYBODY'S birthday a holiday for those people. Hero worship isn't something I think the government should partake in.
Disagree. A good American was murdered by our government.
Yeah, he was no white hen's bitty, but he was an American hero and epitomizes the essence of us, so yes, he should be honored.

Wow, I guess no one here knows a joke when the see one.
Boo. 😐
No, seriously, how stupid is our government to allow such a conflict like that to happen?
It's retardation. Somebody said the 15th was his actual birthday. How about making it that day, hmm?
Simple.

This ain't no white guilt bullshit or nothin', but I feel like MLK Jr. got cheesed today, and it's our government that set the day to remember him to be the same as inauguration day, which if you think about it is just about retarded.
Who da hell did that? It had to have been after 1968.
Who would that be? LBJ? Nixon? Ford?
Which one was the tard that did this?

Well, since you asked, I looked it up Duke and the way it works is that MLK Day is always the THIRD Monday of every January. I don't know WHY they decided that way, but since the 20th of January can be any day of the week, it was just a wild and rare coincidence that this year, both happened on the same day, kind of like two planets in conjunction.

So I see it really as a non-factor, but if they really want to fix it, they should make it the 2nd or 4th Monday of the month or like you say, just make it the 15th, since the 15th and 20th of January NEVER occur on the same day.

But apparently this was all worked out by some federal workers years ago, so you can't expect too much. It is now what it is.
