If the economy is the criteria, we are bound to get a Democrat elected to the presidency in 2028. When Trump regained the presidency defeating Biden, inflation was declining, industry was expanding, construction was up, housing market up, wages rising, and around here, there were gobs of "now hiring" signs. GDP under Biden (who came into office after 2020 election, inheriting a GDP o $21.354 Trillion Dollars that had contracted approx 3.5% from 2019), and saw a 4 year increase in GDP by 2024 to $29,825.182 Trillion Dollars, a significant increase, while the S&P 500 climbed from 3,756.07 in Dec of 2020 to 6,032 in Nov/Dec 2024. Yet, the republicans were totally successful, convincing people the economy was shit, due to the butt hurt of the inflation high in June 2022, of 9.06%, though dropping to 2.888% by Dec 2024. The high inflation that was directly caused by approximate $4 Trillion dollar (plus) money dump of the Trump and Biden covid money dumps, though it must be pointed out, a significant amount of the Biden money went to infrastructure, which in the long term contributes to GDP growth, vs Trump's pure covid relief money dump was applied spread across the general economy and distributed closer to bottom up as direct cash payments, spurring spending and price increases also known as INFLATION. Be that as it may, the inherited 2.888% inflation rate has climbed back up to 3.013% as of September, meanwhile wage unweighted growth topping at 4.1% in January 2025 is still at 4.1%, but inflation eating into it (though actually only marginally) is still at 4.1%, as people shop for Christmas, making consumers pretty gloomy. Couple that with various Trump policies Americans do not like, and the Republican Houses of Congress not even trying to change, in deference to their mad king, the outlook for Republicans retaining control in either house is pretty bleak. Back on economics, the outlook is not rosy for the remainder of the Trump administration, as the inflation (currently rising) is not due to a money dump of free money, this time, but of Trump policies, not reigned in by his party, so not expected to change, so the permissive enabling MAGA Republicans are certain to lose the White House, at the first election opportunity to change in 2028, as we cannot take a chance on simply more of the same.
