The Economist: The US Economy Is The Envy Of The World

There aren't 20 million illegals here. And you morons hilariously believe they all arrived here in the past four years.

There are less illegals here than there were in 2007, under Bush.

As for the debt, Trump contributed $8 trillion. MAGA!

There are less illegals here than there were in 2007, under Bush.

Where did all the Bush illegals go?
Why does adding 10 million new illegals cause the entire number to fall?

As for the debt, Trump contributed $8 trillion.

Biden added more than Trump.

Despite all the whining and lying by MAGA World, and their praying for America to fail, the US is kicking ass.

The American economy has left other rich countries in the dust

Even more striking is how America has outperformed its peers among the mature economies. In 1990 America accounted for about two-fifths of the overall GDP of the G7 group of advanced countries; today it is up to about half (see chart). On a per-person basis, American economic output is now about 40% higher than in western Europe and Canada, and 60% higher than in Japan—roughly twice as large as the gaps between them in 1990. Average wages in America’s poorest state, Mississippi, are higher than the averages in Britain, Canada and Germany.

And America’s outperformance has accelerated recently. Since the start of 2020, just before the covid-19 pandemic, America’s real growth has been 10%, three times the average for the rest of the G7 countries. Among the G20 group, which includes large emerging markets, America is the only one whose output and employment are above pre-pandemic expectations, according to the International Monetary Fund.

And if any of you Putin-lovers think our inflation is bad...

Russia's central bank has hiked the key interest rate by 200 basis points to a record-high 21% in a bid to fight inflation, fuelled by military spending.

Here's the thing about GDP and warfare. If you build a bunch of tanks, the cost of those tanks counts toward your GDP. So your GDP growth looks great. On paper.

But...

All you have to show for it is a bunch of pieces of burnt metal.

It's totally amazing how you guys can totally ignore the polls which say that American's number one concern is the economy, which translates into millions and millions of Americans can't afford to live anymore. But, you fools ignore that and say our economy is the envy of the world. Why are you ignoring millions of people who can't afford to live anymore?

Start with Musk cutting 2 trillion of total fat from our budget. That alone is more than 25% saving. Real businesspeople, like Musk and Ramaswami, with guidance from Trump, will streamline our wasteful and bloated government by MORE than 25%. MAGA
There isn’t $2 trillion that can be safely cut from the budget. Do you know what he won’t cut SpaceX exploration. That’s his Cashcow.

But not the envy of the citizens who live here. Unfortunately the world doesn't vote in our elections.. not yet anyway.

GDP also looks falsely good with an inflated currency such as the one we're working with now.

I guess you have not seen the latest figures that show consumer confidence is growing.

But not the envy of the citizens who live here. Unfortunately the world doesn't vote in our elections.. not yet anyway.
There is nothing we can do about the false perceptions you have been inculcated with by your propagandists.

You live in a world of illusion surrounded by the facts in the real world which contradict your false beliefs.

GDP also looks falsely good with an inflated currency such as the one we're working with now.
Um...have you not heard of real GDP?

It's looking good! It's much higher than what we had under Trump. And especially higher than the hole Biden had to start out with.

Sorry about that!

I swear. I do not understand people like you who wish for America to fail.

Yes, I understand your MAGA media tells you things suck, even though they don't.

Nothing anyone can do about you choosing to believe liars.

Consumer confidence surges ahead of election

Average wages have surpassed inflation for 12 straight months

And that was in May. So wages have actually been surpassing inflation for a year and a half.

Looking at the Trump tax plan,
Would increase the tax burden on 40 or 50% of the population.
And provide the largest tax cuts for the top, BILLIONAIRES.
& MEGA wealthy multi multi multi millionaires.
leaving the burden on the rest of us.
No wonder the big billionaires are throwing money at this plan.
If the skeezer would get elected, God forbid, she will let the Trump tax cuts expire, costing the average $70K earner $2500 more in taxes per year. That's what Kamala would cost the average Joe. She's full of shit with her tax the rich jive. Democrats are the party of the rich. Then throw in her carbon tax, her higher capital gains tax rate and her tax on unrealized capital gains and you have the recipe for another 1929. The skeezer already showed what she got by ******* up our economy and our border during her time in charge. We ain't going back there. Turn the page. MAGA

Harris plans to cut taxes for the middle class, and increase taxes on the rich.

So your fevered imagination is badly in need of calibration.

I swear I do not understand people who feel that there are only two options comply with the government propaganda or advocate for failure. It's a false dichotomy and it's one of the left's favorite tactics.

It doesn't matter what real GDP accounts for...that doesn't change the slippage in the buying power of the dollar. So you get a Rosy picture in numbers but not so Rosie at the kitchen table.

I would much rather have a smaller GDP or even a receding GDP and a stronger dollar representing Superior purchasing power for the people who are trading man hours to earn those little green notes.

That's where it hits home... at the kitchen table for Mr and Mrs Median income who have to pay real bills in a real world with a real currency that is failing.

The constant soliloquy of poppies and con flowers becomes nothing but an irritating noise the ears of the people who know the score and that would be the people who are actually spending the inflated money. So there are a couple million more people making inflated wages and you want to brag about this?

There is no wonder that's why the average American has stopped listening. Just because the rest of the world supposedly envies our GDP does not negate the fact the standard of living is sinking and that it is sinking consistently.

So the people starving in India are envious of our GDP. Who gives a shit?

We measure against what we had and what we lost not what everyone else has or does not have.

It never works.... You're basically increasing taxes on the people who supply society with everything from soup to nuts. The cost will be passed along to the consumer and the tax increases will effectively be on everyone regardless of income category.

Don't you ever get tired of telling fairy tales? The only way to fix this is to strengthen the dollar.

So, in other words, you chose to completely ignore the fact wages have been exceeding inflation for 18 months now.

Don't you ever get tired of pushing the trickle down hoax?

Have you not noticed the ever-growing wealth gap?

Well that's certainly good news. let's hope it continues. I'm not hoping for bad news. I don't actually give a shit who wins in November to tell you the truth. I'll take your word for it.

I have noticed that grocery prices have calmed down and are slowly beginning to come down. This makes me feel good. I am quite comfortable myself but I can't ignore the plight of those around me including family members and Friends.

Of course I've noticed the wealth Gap.
Trickle down is not a hoax. If you put pressure on the wealthy class it unfailingly trickles down to the plebians. The puzzle of how to stop the upward flow of wealth has not been solved despite everyone's aha moments. By volume the top 10% pay 60% of the taxes already.

The dream of moving that up to 95% of the taxes is never going to happen. There's no telling what would happen if you tried it.

I'm not against that number I just don't think it's reachable not without severe consequences

Cloward and Piven came up with a great idea of imploding the entire system by spreading poverty at a mass rate until everything fails. Not such a very clever ******* idea.

They theorized that this will force everyone to start over from the same starting blocks. Unfortunately that's no different than trying to tell everyone in the audience that the 5 foot 5 basketball player and the 7 foot 2 basketball player are exactly the same player. It would be nice but it's just not real.

I don't pretend to know what the answer is. But I'm certain that strengthening the dollar is a quick way to reach everyone with more financial empowerment even if it does slow down our international trade a bit.

Yep, the polls in 2020 said that American's number one concern is the economy.

The polls in 2016 said that American's number one concern is the economy

The polls in 2012 that American's number one concern is the economy

The polls in 2008 that American's number one concern is the economy

The polls in 2004 that American's number one concern is the economy

The polls in 2000 that American's number one concern is the economy

Despite the duopoly, America is a great nation.
