The Economist: The US Economy Is The Envy Of The World

Despite all the whining and lying by MAGA World, and their praying for America to fail, the US is kicking ass.
If we were to strip off the thick, black crust of political partisanship for just a moment, most people would look at the current numbers and be very pleased.

They'd also look at the consumer confidence numbers (American consumers feeling much more confident as Election Day nears) and be even MORE pleased.

Anything can happen with an economy, but at the moment we should be happy. Unfortunately, politics soils and perverts every last ******* thing it touches.

Feel free to debunk the facts in the OP, genius.
Your mind is only capable of throwing little bombs into a conversation. You have the intellectual bandwidth of a bumper sticker.
So you aren't up to the task.
Sad.
Trumpsters aren't going to be able to discuss macroeconomics.

It's destructive to support a bloated 6.5 trillion dollar budget, a 35+ trillion national debt, allowing 20 million illegal aliens to break into our country, financing a war against Russia, aiding foreign countries as we ignore our own people and mandating things like EVs and the green new deal that will destroy our economy. Our economy could be 25% better under Trump's management. MAGA

America has no choice but to be the envy of the world because we are top dog. At least for now. Things could be better though. Progs take too much out of potential growth with their hairbrained agendas. And we get nothing or little for it.

Okay, I can't help myself. I know I'm wasting my time, but:

Show your math. 25% better? Really? How?

Especially when:

  1. At the time COVID hit, the economy was only growing at 2.3% (you can look it up)
  2. We had an extended manufacturing recession in 2019 (you can look it up)
  3. He had TRILLIONS in stimulus help from the Fed along the way (you can look it up)
  4. He BEGGED the Fed to ADD to the stimulus, and to DECREASE interest rates EVEN MORE -- BOTH inflationary (see below)
  5. He totally abandoned his pledge to eliminate the deficit (see below)
  6. He not only signed, but APPLAUDED a massive spending increase (see below)

Go ahead.

Start with Musk cutting 2 trillion of total fat from our budget. That alone is more than 25% saving. Real businesspeople, like Musk and Ramaswami, with guidance from Trump, will streamline our wasteful and bloated government by MORE than 25%. MAGA

I suspect the bulk of the rest of the world is split between Detesting and Mocking you --- collectively .

I simply see you as an Empire founded on Greed and Arrogance that has just about come to the end of its short history .

The next couple of years should clarify that, but for the life of me I cannot see any present talent that has a good chance of altering the march of time and past consequences .

I believe the same is true of Team GB .
So it has nothing to do with misplaced feelings of superiority . Though separately and obviously we clearly are .
What else are empires built upon?

Congress holds the purse strings, not the imaginary illegal immigrant Elon Musk he ain't shit and never will be.

I guess you don't know this, but 'The Economist' is almost as Leftwing as The Atlantic. You're welcome.

Actually it is not. It is clear you have never opened a copy of the magazine.

Musk just talked about the cuts causing "short term pain".

No way in hell Trump does that, no way in hell the House passes it.

These people have been completely conned. As usual.

That's a hoax.

If Trump told you the moon was made of cheese, you'd bleev him.

The American economy has left other rich countries in the dust

Even more striking is how America has outperformed its peers among the mature economies. In 1990 America accounted for about two-fifths of the overall GDP of the G7 group of advanced countries; today it is up to about half (see chart). On a per-person basis, American economic output is now about 40% higher than in western Europe and Canada, and 60% higher than in Japan—roughly twice as large as the gaps between them in 1990. Average wages in America’s poorest state, Mississippi, are higher than the averages in Britain, Canada and Germany.

And America’s outperformance has accelerated recently. Since the start of 2020, just before the covid-19 pandemic, America’s real growth has been 10%, three times the average for the rest of the G7 countries. Among the G20 group, which includes large emerging markets, America is the only one whose output and employment are above pre-pandemic expectations, according to the International Monetary Fund.

And if any of you Putin-lovers think our inflation is bad...

Russia's central bank has hiked the key interest rate by 200 basis points to a record-high 21% in a bid to fight inflation, fuelled by military spending.

Here's the thing about GDP and warfare. If you build a bunch of tanks, the cost of those tanks counts toward your GDP. So your GDP growth looks great. On paper.

But...

All you have to show for it is a bunch of pieces of burnt metal.

You're going to get the Donald again, it should be hysterical to watch.

If the world envies this economy the world is worse off than I thought

Anyone see where Volkswagen just closed three plants and laid off 10,000?

There aren't 20 million illegals here. And you morons hilariously believe they all arrived here in the past four years.

There are less illegals here than there were in 2007, under Bush.

As for the debt, Trump contributed $8 trillion. MAGA!

15th post
All the more important to elect Republican majorities. Trumpy will fix it. MAGA
When Trump had a Republican House and Senate, they collectively doubled the deficit, genius. Before Covid. MAGA!

It's always amazes me how stone deaf and blind you tards get when the GOP is spending like drunken sailors in a whorehouse.

Looking at the Trump tax plan,
Would increase the tax burden on 40 or 50% of the population.
And provide the largest tax cuts for the top, BILLIONAIRES.
& MEGA wealthy multi multi multi millionaires.
leaving the burden on the rest of us.
No wonder the big billionaires are throwing money at this plan.
