I predict that sunk cost will pit the current crop of true believers that have lost touch with American voters against the majority of pragmatists that intend to lobby for a retreat from the precipice.

Either the sunk costers will lose the internal battle, then equate the retreat and loss with abject failure and become even more demoralized...

...or the true believers will win, alienating the agents of change and causing their disengagement or worse, defection to the larger tent of the GOP.

The dominoes of their destruction as a cohesive party are already in motion, and objects in motion tend to stay in motion unless acted upon by a stronger force.

I don't believe the Democrats can currently muster a stronger force to counter the inertia of their collapse.

They said this after Hillary lost, the media said it also. they didnt care then and they won't care now. If Trump keeps his promises and.the U.S economy excels while the deficit spending is.under control, the Dems will be in trouble. Trumps administration will decide if the Dems can recover. He kept his promises his first term, we will see if he can maintain that loyalty to his policy prescriptions.

The Democrats have been contracting for many years.

This may well be the coup de grace for a party that has lost it's will to survive in it's current form. As the post above illustrates...the Dems are in a position now where they may be forced to maintain a permanent minority in both houses of Congress.

Trump came closer to flipping New York, and Illinois red than Democrats came to flipping Texas and Florida blue.

Minnesota is on the chopping block for Dems, as is Virginia and New Mexico.

Things just aren't looking good all round.
