Actually, no. If we keep borrowing, and the bond vigilantes and ratings agencies say "no more borrowing", the dollar collapses, then the dollar is worth nothing, that is not way in the future, that could happen soon. With TRILLIONS in government spending up for GRAFT and the entire culture of IMA GET MINE the country would be stunned to learn of the actual volume of theft, fraud and grift that's been going on.
Don't worry though, we are F'ing over future generations with the bill by borrowing all the money. Future generations, sucks to be you SUCKERS!!

I predicted it years ago, noting that every last apex empire in the entirety of human history has fallen for the same reason, corruption ROT.Actually, no. If we keep borrowing, and the bong vigilantes and ratings agencies say "no more borrowing", the dollar collapses, then the dollar is worth nothing, that is not way in the future, that could happen soon.
Interest on the debt now is $1.1T a year, and it is climbing fast, so the Federal budget will be consumed if we don't start paying down the $38T debt..
Thanks, for the link list. Though aware, I have not really followed the story closely, thinking of that place being a cold ass state 600 or 700 miles away. All states, from time to time are racked by scandals, fraud schemes, many (if not most) involving crooked politicians, and/or the uber-rich, making them the short term attention of the country. TN had ours with a Governor named Blanton, selling pardons and liquor licenses openly enough, we ended up swearing in Lamar Alexander early, to cut off the last round of his pardons and signings, and then sending Blanton to state prison for awhile.
