In a Republic, actually
Six House Republicans opposed Medicaid cuts, then voted for them. It turns out that will grant them a big tax break.

‘House Republicans passed their colossal domestic-policy package early Thursday morning, clinching a vote of 215 to 214 while most of America slept. The GOP mega-bill, which diverts hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funding from social safety net programs, is now bound for the Senate floor. “It’s not surprising that this bill was written behind closed doors and rushed through in the night before Americans had a chance to see what it contains,” Amy Hanauer, executive director of the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, told the Prospect. “This bill extends enormous tax cuts to those who have the most. It will increase inequality, reduce health coverage, and take food from people’s tables, all to shower the wealthiest people in this country and foreign investors with tax breaks.”’

And none of the windfall realized by the wealthiest people in this country and foreign investors will ‘trickle down’ to benefit average Americans – a ridiculous lie Republicans have pushed for decades.

Like thieves in the night, the henchmen ply their trade.

"Turncoats"? People need to be aware of the difference between medicare and medicaid. Medicare is health insurance for the elderly and is pretty well regulated. Medicaid is a hodge podge of government giveaways with little regulation. All republicans want to do is eliminate the fraud and abuse inherent in the medicaid system and encourage medicaid recipients to be self sufficient.

It's really state giveaways. States that opted for expanded Medicaid under Halfrican Care get a 9 to 1 return on every dollar they contribute so states like CA and NY try getting everyone on Medicaid.

States that didn't, not quite 2 to 1.

the CBO says 8.6 million people will lose coverage.

Just like how Trump wanted DOGE to save the poor taxpayers loads of money..... only he doesn't seem to want to save money and allow the poor to get better off. It seems he'll tell you what you want to hear, but it's not actually true.

3 days ago — The legislation contains roughly $3.8 trillion in tax cuts. The existing tax rates and brackets would become permanent under the bill.

The wealthiest households would see a $12,000 increase from the legislation, which would cost the poorest people $1,600 a year, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office analysis of the House’s version.

Along those excuses for "Strengthening" medicare and medicaid...............

We need to "strengthen" tax cuts.

We need to strip $ 3.8 trillion in tax cuts from Trump's bill to save and protect them.......... and to "Strengthen" them for years to come.

“I know a lot of us are hearing from people back home about Medicaid. But they’ll get over it,” he added.

The "cuts" in the Medicaid budget is a reduction in the proposed automatic increase. Medicaid will still get more money. Also, Trump intends to strongarm the drug industry to drastically lower drug prices for Medicaid, which is the biggest Medicaid expense. Big Pharma is the greedy rat in the woodpile.

Of course, the main problem is that people just don't give a shit about their health or how much they and others have to spend on it.

Weren't you just chastising me in another thread about sourcing, then you come here and plug in "Truthout"? What a joke.

All economies are trickle down. You just have to be in the place where the money trickles, which is usually 'a job'.

Should people who don't work get free Medicaid? If so, why?
