What we have is elites who know how to play everyone and their views and beliefs. And all of that is not totally locked in for many people. It does give people comfort and that cannot be understated. When it comes to Christianity, you disregard the majority that try to live within the rules. They are not perfect, yet they keep the costs lower for it.
