The dollar coin is hardly used but still in circulation. The Kennedy half started out as a silver coin and then became half silver and eventually clad (something like the administration). The Lincoln cent underwent changes and so did the nickle and the quarter dollar has had the biggest modification since the BiCentennial but the mint didn't fool with the FDR dime.

The Roosevelt dime has been in circulation since 1946. Like the democrat party it started out in silver and ended up as a relatively worthless clad symbol of former wealth.

The UK uses a 2 pound coin, worth $2.50
The EU uses a 2 Euro coin, worth $2.20
Japan uses a 500 Yen coin, worth $4.40

The US uses the 25 cents, worth 25 cents.
China uses the 1 RMB, worth 14 cents.

Basically the US is with non-first world countries in terms of its currency. And the reason why! Because the US govt can't do the right thing for the people. It'll waste money producing banknotes because some company produces the paper and doesn't want to lose business.

Wow ...when did FDR reach "Mercurial" status?

When he blazed a trail of legislation for the new deal.
