So this is the last season of "The Boys", based on Garth Ennis comic of the same name.

I like the Boys; it's one of the few cases where an adaptation is actually better than the source material it's based on.

Season four kind of dragged in places, but season five is off to a good start.

My only complaint. The character of Kimiko can talk now. It's actually kind of unnerving. It's like seeing Harpo Marx talk. I think the character worked better when she was mute.

Yeah, the original comics were just…. unpleasant.

I think it was just one Joke "Superheroes are awful, let's kill them" that he stretched over the whole run.

Almost all of his characters were kind of one-note.

The series gives them all quite a lot of depth, even Homelander, who is horrible, but in some ways, you kind of feel bad for him.

The series also sends up modern things that didn't exist when the series ran in the Aughts. The major heroes are movie stars while the minor ones are internet influencers.

I'm curious why.

it was because of topic we were on about super hero movies i think it was...and you gave me the impression you thought they sucked and were for kids and you even called me "comic boy" in jest.....so thats why...

Most superhero movies DO suck.
What makes the Boys enjoyable is how they send up the MCU.

Okay, now that the season is over, I'm kind of meh.

The finale was great, but it shouldn't have taken this many episodes to get there.

So the gist of the season is that Homelander (the show's parody of Superman) takes over the country and thinks he's God.

Because something like that could never happen in real life.

And yes, even though this was probably produced over a year ago, the episodes with Homelander's delusions of Godhood interspersed with Trump doing stuff like this....

The ending pretty much mirrored the comics in that it had a final confrontation between Butcher and Homelander in the White House, followed by Hughie stopping Homelander from doing something awful. Again, these story beats were much better done here.
