The Bones of J.R. Jones -

A most delicate balance....internal capabilities of self-regulation versus the need for external control... over what could be said to be mostly primal motivations and rewards. This is our human condition with respect to the course of growing from primal state towards an enlightened state....which has never happened to our knowledge on Earth.

There are past civilizations that attained what has been coined a period of "enlightenment". True enlightenment, however, has yet to be reached and won't be during anyone's life time alive today. Humans are still on the "third stair" of evolutionary progress and have been on the same stair for millions of years. A lot of progress happens on each stair, but it takes millions of years to advance to the next (or at least that's been the case up until now.

Ethical decision making has lagged behind vast technological advances for many years now. After all, there are no "ethical requirements" needed to use/misuse technology. This discrepancy is going to be an even bigger problem within the next decade than it is today.

Regardless of the current/continuing aspects of global chaos, contined power grabs, and warring factions, I still hold out for enlightened humanity to eventually win the battle. "Winning" means that a large majority of people from various walks of life with differing politics and religious views come together and choose life, freedom, and peace over using primitive, small-minded modes of behavior/thinking.
