I like running because it is one of the purer sports. You line up a handful of guys. Tell them the first one reaching that tree is the winner. I realize that surfaces, shoes, etc. have changed, but still timeless.

One of my favorites is 5k. I like how they bump into one another and get physical.

hey, yes I did catch Femke in the 4x400m, she was over-taking the gb/us teams, timed her finish perfectly.. I actually felt I think joy as it happened.. proving I still have something in me (love?) for europe, hasn't been completely beaten out of me by the nazi government, yet.
I really like Lieke Klaver, very pretty dutch girl:

It's always a bonus after the event to see the dutch girls kissing and hugging!
Same with the women's football, haha, when they score.

Yes, re medals, I think team GB are prob over-achieving regarding overall number, so well done them.
Didn't Silvio whack her in the woods?

Klaver and Bol are training pals and Klaver is top class but not in the super elite bracket like Femke.
She wanders around in another universe apparently having no idea how astonishingly exceptional she is .
in that epic last leg she had a split time of around 48.3 which is mind blowing .

The Hodge tonight .
Could she break 1.54 ? Probably not ,as there does not appear anybody to push her hard .
That was one of my events but from memory my best time at 17 was 2.04 which means I would trail the Hodge by 80 +yards .

Yes I think I saw Keely Hodge do 1min56 in her semi, so.. well, I don't know as much about middle distance running, is that good? well she won her semi easily, so must be pretty good. Hope she wins her final later.

Back in the day I used to watch that with my daughter who participated in T&F on the HS level....No more, I just can't support a .org (or the network that supports them) that made such a mockery of a once great event.

You can watch for the both of us.
Any dudes competing in the women's T&F events?

Lol.. I beg your pardon sir? what is it to whack a lady? haha... some dirty things on this board.. :auiqs.jpg:
It's a reference to the show Sopranos. Ever watch that one?

I didn't see the ep where she gets offed.. how can the writers do this?? to a pretty lady? they have no heart?
tbh the best thing about the sopranos was the theme tune at the beginning... I still play it sometimes.

Hmm, well a slowish start maybe, but they are now no2 in the medal table, with 14 golds at this point.. haha but guess who's beating them? their nemesis big bad China!(16 golds)
Making the US 2nd best country in the world...

Not really, if you look at it per capita... top 20 right now.

My favorite event in Men’s gymnastics is the High Bar. It is the simplest gymnastic apparatus to where you must invent your momentum, create all of your artistry and of course dismount. It was bonkers this year. Finalists were landing face down on the mat; frog leaping after not sticking the landing.

For any of you who may have missed it, you can catch the repeats on Peacock if you want. The Gold and Silver medalists actually got the same score. The athlete who won the gold medal was awarded the gold based on the degree of difficulty of his routine. The silver medal went to a 17 year old named Angel Barajas (still had braces on his teeth) from Colombia--that gymnastics powerhouse!!!

Additionally, if you want to see something pretty unorthodox and I dare to say never done before at the Olympics, either google or watch the Peacock replay of the team artistic swimming (not to be confused with the pairs)--these are 8 per team.

I won’t give it away but what you’re looking for is the French team--the Peacock telecast has them going first in the competition because they were the lowest rated team going in and the teams compete in reverse order of their standings. The US went 7th; the Chinese went 10th.

Not sure how I feel about the sport though. Certainly they are athletic--continuous movement through the water for 3+ minutes--most of it under water--while keeping your eyes open--and being as synchronized as possible. But the scoring-as I understand it, is favored toward favoring more athletic exploits. Put another way, there isn’t much swimming going on. The potential for gracefulness is certainly there but the rules seem to force a lot of athleticism which is, of course, admirable. As a viewer, it leaves a bit to be desired.

To get a better idea of what I’m talking about, If anyone remembers Torvil and Dean from the 84 Olympics, the ice dancing routine they put on--6.0’s across the board--was a thing of beauty. Olga Korbut’s routine in the 72 olympics on the uneven bars; first year gymnasts are doing it today in terms od the degree of difficulty. But it was absolutely beautiful; almost mesmerizing.

Yep, Adriana was pretty and hot, but hot in that trashy sort of way. It was good when the camera zeroed in on her in black underwear for extended shots.
