World War 2, Okinawa Island. It took over 2 years of fighting in the Pacific just to get to Okinawa. Tens of thousands dead.

The Japanese fought to the death. From April 1st to the end of June in 1945 over a 100,000 died on Okinawa. Not just battle deaths but ritual suicides. Never surrender, the Japanese never surrendered, the Japanese had to be beaten by a stronger foe.

I failed to watch it all myself

Not because it was too long but because it was too painfull

I cant imagine myself enduring what the Gi’s and Marines had to face during that battle

Truly the WWII generation was our greatest generation
