Living wage rates would have to be defined somewhat locally. As the cost of living differs so radically from region to region. I don't think you'd be able to set a national standard that was particularly effective. I don't even think a state rate would work. You'd probably have to set a rate based on the CoL of a particular area to be useful.

Jobs left this country due to the laws of supply and demand. Unions and high taxes were a big factor. Why is there no longer a textile industry in South Carolina and Georgia?
