If you mean that there are far fewer U.S. textile companies and that they don't produce enough to supply American clothing manufacturers, you may be right. But then the tarrifs may provide an opportunity for them to rise from the ashes of the bonfire the Biden Administration set to U.S. jobs for U.S. citizens.

Most of the textile companies in the US service exclusively to higher end brands and are small to medium size. Companies that did business with china for textiles will simply move their operations to other cheaper countries. They won't come back here and destroy their business.

Maybe they will. If so, Trump always has the option to slap tarrifs on them also.

If companies are going to ship American jobs overseas, they can pay tarrifs to help with the unemployment and welfare dependency that will cause.

They pay sales taxes....excise taxes...liquor and cigarettes taxes, and gasoline taxes, and in many instances they pay payroll tax monies in to the federal coffers, same with the 49% of Americans not paying federal income taxes, they just don't earn enough taxable income, to be income taxed, but they pay plenty of other federal, state, property, and local taxes.

But where a lot of taxes come from is their employers paying taxes on them with payroll tax match, and the employers paying federal income taxes on more earned taxable income of their companies through their employee labor producing more...

Doesn't the employer have to identify the employee to the federal government to collect and pay payroll taxes? I recall my employer needing my Social Security number for every job I've taken, and the last I checked, illegal aliens cannot legally get a SS number. Has that changed?

I believe what y'all call illegals, can get TIN #s....anyone screened at the border and accepted as an asylum seeker, who has been given a court date for an immigration judge to determine if they qualify for asylum, will be able to and are legally working with TIN#s (or some sort of legal #) as their replacement SSN.

As far as illegal ssn's, there is a black market of employment companies who provide illegally the SSNs, and employers, the crooked ones, actually send illegals applying for jobs at their companies, to these agencies....to get the "proper " paperwork, so they can hire them and cover their own asses.
