A well known Saudi Islamic scholar Sheikh Ayedh Al Qarni issued a fatwa on Sunday to kill Syrian President Bashar Al Assad.

Al Qarni stressed in his fatwa that killing Bashar Al Assad is more important than killing Israelis, reported 'Al Bayan'.

Meanwhile, Saudi-based 'Sabq' reported that Al Qarni, in an interview on Al Arabia Channel, urged Syrian people to take up arms against Bashar Al Assad's regime.

In his fatwa, Al Qarni said that minorities and all other communities in Syria must enjoy freedom and security after Assad era.

"Bashar is illegitimate and he is a murderer because his hands are blood stained. He killed hundreds of children, destroyed mosques...he is a rogue...," he said.

He called on Syrian army to split and diobey President Bashar Al Assad. "It is not permissible for Syrian army to obey the tyrant...this is disobedience to the Creator," added Al Qarni.

“Killer Bashar Al-Assad should be killed,” Nasr Farid Wasil, Egypt’s former mufti, told The Freedom and Justice Party’s newspaper on Wednesday.

“He who fires a bullet against his people is cursed and a war criminal who should be punished.”

Sheikh Abdel-Moneim Al-Bari, former chief of Al-Azhar scholars front, agrees.

“Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad should be killed for aiding the brutal massacres being committed against peaceful civilians in Syria,” he said.

Al-Bari, a former member of Al-Azhar’s Fatwa Committee, said that Assad’s crimes violate all religious and human norms.
“He deserves a swift punishment.”

China and Russia are only against this because of Iran. They buy Iranian oil in exchange for goods and weapons. Otherwise they could care less about Syria.

Syria is Iran's only muslim ally and trading partner in the region.

Both Israel and the U.S. want to break that bond between the two countries and thus further isolate Iran and bring Syria back into the Sunni camp.

Getting rid of Assad is the only way to accomplish this geopolitical realignment.

Indeed, and Russia has a Navy Base in Syria. If/when Assad falls they can kiss that base good bye, right now the rebels have the momentum and its really only a matter of time until we see a change of the guard in Syria, if Assad could have put this rebellion down last year he would be safe but now its picked up too much momentum, too many people want to see him fall.
