Sweden, Which Never Had Lockdown, Sees COVID-19 Cases Plummet as Rest of Europe Suffers Spike

Sweden has the largest number of cases and fatalities in Scandinavia—around 37 000 confirmed cases in June , compared with its neighbours Denmark, Norway, and Finland which have 12 000, 8000, and 7000 cases, respectively. All three neighbouring countries adopted a lockdown approach early in the pandemic, which they are now slowly lifting

The herd mentality sacrifices those who are unlucky to get the disease in the hope that immunity will eventually kick in by those who survive. Still compared to outer Scandinavia nations. Sweden has has the larges fatalities. Almost 3 times to 5 times its neighbor who had the lock down. It was a gamble that they made and so far they lost in terms of number of deaths. Lock down reduced the number of fatalities. Yet if you want to go with what is popular then lock down is not popular. So there is a willingness to make sacrifices for the good of those who are doing a happy dance that they survived.

Sorry ,sorry, to bad for those who didn't
So don't compare Sweden with all other countries. Only compare it the ones that support your hocus-pocus.

What a fucking douchebag you are.
The only countries in Europe with surging cases are Eastern European countries and a few others. Czech Republic, Croatia, etc. Germany, France, Spain, Denmark are all pretty flat. Those countries all had their peaks in April/May as well. Sweden had their peak in July.
The difference? Sweden didn't destroy its economy with a shutdown. It was entirely unnecessary.

It's still to early to tell what the long term effects will be.Yes their GDP had some modest gains in the first quarter but the gain is modest when compared with those who had the lock down. So it begs the question was it worth it to have such modest gains at the expense of others who died?

Compared to the US

Sweden is a country of only 10 million people. Per million people, Sweden has suffered 40 percent more deaths than the United States,

Yes the US has a larger population and a lot more deaths. but using per capital to compare the two countries with different populations. Sweden percentages is high. If the US had done the same then the death toll would have been greater. Imagine more deaths that what we currently have now.

Sweden central bank is estimating that the economy will contract by 4.5 percent which is a revision from a previously expected gain of 1.3 percent.

Sweden Has Become the World’s Cautionary Tale

Sweden has about 5700 deaths. That's 1/5 what New York has under the Grim Reaper's leadership.

Our death rate is falling.
Depends on what you mean by “death rate”. Deaths from COVID are on the rise.

Testing as it relates to death rate has the potential if people would take it seriously. That means staying at home. Yet it doesn't take into account how long you had it and might have been spreading it. Still if you have none of the symptoms associated with COVID-19 (asymptomatic), then you are likely not going to get a test. Also when the cost is between 70 to 100 dollars a test, only those with insurance or can afford it will get the test. It's not like your going to get tested weekly.

Personally instead of getting stimulus payment, how about free testing.

Those lockdowns are the miracle cure for COVID, aren't they?

Amid fears over a potential second wave of the novel coronavirus across Europe, new infections in Sweden, where full lockdown measures were not implemented, have mostly declined since late June.
The number of new cases per 100,000 people in Sweden reported over the last 14 days since July 29 dropped by 54 percent from the figure reported over 14 days prior to then, according to the latest report Wednesday from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Meanwhile, other parts of Europe have reported large spikes in new cases over the same period, including Spain, France, Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands, which have seen increases between 40 and 200 percent over the last month, according to the latest WHO report Wednesday.
The seven-day rolling average of Sweden's daily new cases has been dropping consistently since June 29. Its daily case count has been mostly decreasing since June 24, when it reported 1,803 new infections, its largest single-day spike since the outbreak began, according to data compiled by Worldometer.
The seven-day rolling average of daily new deaths in Sweden has also been declining since around April 15, when it reported a record daily death count of 115. The country's latest seven-day rolling averages for daily new cases and daily new deaths stand at 154 and 2.

I guess you missed this quote from your article:

However, the Scandinavian nation ranks eighth among countries with the highest number of COVID-19 deaths per 100,000 people. It outranks the U.S. and Brazil, which are the world's first and second worst-hit nations in terms of total cases, according to Johns Hopkins University.

Whatever the Swedes are doing, I'll take a pass on it.

Not it's not. Sweden is in 8th place with 568 deaths per million of population. The USA is currently in 10th place with 475 deaths per million, and Canada is in 23rd with 237 deaths per million - less than half the death rate of the USA. Sweden's death rate is now holding stead at 568 per thousand, and the rate in the USA is increasing, not slowing down.

Canada has seen a spike in cases since we entered Phase 3, but mandatory mask laws which are currently being enacted, should cut that down quickly. Testing is quickly and easily available, and results are coming back in 24 - 48 hours, not the 2 weeks that are hampering containment efforts in the US.

Do whatever you like. This is America, not Canada.

Yeah - worst response, with the most cases and deaths in the world.

Sweden’s death rate is lower than your shithole country.

Was any of this brainless spittle supposed to prove something?

Testing as it relates to death rate has the potential if people would take it seriously. That means staying at home. Yet it doesn't take into account how long you had it and might have been spreading it. Still if you have none of the symptoms associated with COVID-19 (asymptomatic), then you are likely not going to get a test. Also when the cost is between 70 to 100 dollars a test, only those with insurance or can afford it will get the test. It's not like your going to get tested weekly.

Personally instead of getting stimulus payment, how about free testing.
The poor can’t pay the rent with Kung Flu tests.

Why do you hate the poor?

Well if u die or spend money on the hospital bill then rent would be the least of your worries.

Sweden has more covid deaths than its neighbors. Per capita they had over 567 deaths per million compared to Denmark which had 100 deaths per million. Finland and Norway had around 50 deaths per million. Again, you republicans don’t care about the 500 people who died because the leadership in Sweden sucks. Sounds familiar

Republicans are pushing for herd immunity.

And now Sweden’s neighbors are demanding ten day quarantine before they let them in. This is hurting their economy. Their gdp will fall 5.4% in 2020

covid also has long lasting effects on a lot of people who get it but don’t die. Sweden may have fucked up a lot of thei citizens for life by choosing herd immunity

Deaths are now at near zero.

While California continues to kill people off.

What was your issue again ?
