Supreme Court once again to rule on the most pressing issues of the day. They already ruled on abortion, now they will rule on squeaky toys.
Jack Daniels doesn’t want their whisky confused with a squeaky toy.

On its own, the dog toy at issue would have inspired an odd discussion at the usually buttoned-down high court: Part of the comedic element of the toy are its dog excrement jokes. Instead of including the "Old No. 7" emblazoned on the highly recognizable label of a Jack Daniel's bottle, the toy references "the Old No. 2 on your Tennessee carpet."

You obviously didnt read your own article, otherwise you wouldnt be confused as to why this is an important case.

I realize how important this case is….

Not that someone might think they are buying a bottle of Jack and ending up with a squeaky toy.

But imagine a poor dog that thinks it is picking up its squeaky toy and ends up with a bottle of Jack!

A funny thing about trademarks, as opposed to all other forms of intellectual property— The owner of a trademark is obligated to be extremely diligent in protecting it, including the use of lawsuits, if necessary, or else risk losing it entirely.

But then again, parody needs to be protected speech

Society needs a sense of humor
