The Supreme Court will allow Texas to use a congressional map that adds as many as five Republican seats for next year’s midterm elections, boosting the GOP’s chances of retaining control of the House of Representatives.

The justices on Thursday set aside a lower court decision that had blocked the new electoral lines. The lower court found that the new map was an unconstitutional racial gerrymander, but the Supreme Court said that decision appeared to be wrong.

The court’s three liberal justices dissented, with Justice Elena Kagan accusing the majority of improperly substituting its own judgment for the lower court’s factual findings.

It's a good day for Texas, not so good for Democrats. Let the "experts" opinions begin.

One day our country of morons might smarter up and create independent commissions of mathematicians to draw the districts based on census results.

Might.

They also gave California the green light in that same ruling. No opinion needed.

But there are cryptic messages though...

What is cool is that we can start rewriting districts to lessen the voting power of white people.

California worked out a deal with the Republicans decades ago for something like that and made is a Constitutional Amendment. The democrats just over-rode their Constitution to increase their ability to gerrymander the republican representation out of existence.

Yes, of course. What do you expect? Democrats and Republicans are now in a race to the bottom.

False. This mid census period redistricting on a whim has not been happening for years.

But it definitely will now.

Enjoy.

It's happened in the past and TX is not unique in doing it this year.

It is unique. And now everyone will do it.

Nobody expected anything less from SC(r)OTUS. The best justices money can buy.
