Contrary to all the mindless PC sloganeering, low voter turnout has been a blessing for our democracy. As Winston Churchill said, "The greatest argument against democracy is talking to the average voter." The participation of uninterested and/or ignorant voters undermines the idea of an enlightened electorate, while at the same time increasing the liklihood of manipulated mob rule (e.g., the French Revolution).

By any objective measurement, a substantial number of potential voters do not possess sufficient knowledge or intellect to make an informed decision. Why encourage them?

The people that really care showed up,substance over style, instead of the other way around.

Mid-term elections tend to bring out the informed voters. Presidential elections are more like a beauty contest or sporting event.
