Had to come to grips with the fact that there are some severe supply chain issues out there.

Did a bit of grocery shopping and not a single bag of regular, boring pretzels to be seen (Rold Gold is my usual go-to).

Thanks, Brandon!!!

Brandon must hate you, our pretzel shelf was over flowing this morning.

The last thing we have not been able to find was Bing Cherry Bai that my wife loves.

Yes, the supply chains are a disaster. By default that means some locations with excess and others with depravity. That is what supply chains do, they bring the excess to the deprived and serve no other purpose whatsoever.

And yes, Biden will pay for it. His causal relationship with the problems are not even relevant.

Yep, no Rolled Gold will do him in! :cheers2:

It will.

This comes off as sarcastic. Were you being so? Do you honestly think that he will not pay a political price when people keep walking into stores with empty shelves?

Yes, I was very much being so.

I do not think enough people saw empty shelves for it to matter in Nov 22. Thanks to 20 years in the Marines I have friends all over the country, none ever said anything about empty shelf problems.

And I have been all over the country as well in the last 2 years and those problems are everywhere. Your antidotal experience is next to worthless and you are well aware of that fact. The reality around us is stark and felt by the majority of the nation.

That you are insulated is a pretty silly notion to expand out to the rest of the nation when things like inflation and work stoppages happening everywhere. Do you have any friends that are dockworkers or wharehouse workers? Are they telling you that there is no interruption in service?

And what silliness makes you think that people have not seen enough empty shelves? We are STILL seeing them. Seen them over this holiday shipping season. Many things I wanted to purchase I simply could not, they are not there. Many things are even difficult to acquire online. Every single shopping trip I take to the grocery store ends up with a MINIMUM of one item that cannot be acquired or has reached a price point that is laughable.

And there is little to no indication that this will correct itself in 6 months. Even the fed has walked away from the transitory nonsense they were holding onto before. I guess you think Biden's approval ratings look like Trumps approval ratings because everything is just fine and dandy, right? After all, none of YOUR friends seem to care....

I remember when the Trump cultists were crowing about how none of those terrible indicators mattered then. They were fine. They seen Trump yard sings on all the yards around them. You sound just like them.

No shortage of either taxes & inflation for sure!

To be very honest with you, I think that you exaggerate the problem because it is politically expedient for you to do so.

It comes down to buying into what you are selling or trusting family and friends all around the country that are not having these issues.

To be very honest with you, I see the VERY same thing in you. You ignore the obvious problems.

However, you don't need to take my word for it or the word of anyone. Look up the inflation rate? What do you think causes that? A glut of goods and services? Are you really going to try and sell us all on the fact supply chains are not fucked? Are you telling me that the ports full of ships not offloading their cargo is not actually happening?

See, those are facts. Facts that clearly show you are ignoring the obvious.

I can live with that. All I know is what I see and what people I know see. The last time I could not find anything was the day before Thanksgiving when I had to go to 3 stores to find buttermilk. I blame that on me for waiting till the last minute, I guess I could be like you and blame it on Joe.

I did not say there are no problems at all, just that it will not impact the Nov 22 election. 11 months is a long time and the US electorate has a famously short memory.

CPI is going through the roof...
(Consumer price index).

Packaging shortages are going to deprive you of everything from Coffee to non-dairy creamer.

Resins and coatings...I know they sound yucky and boring...
But they are basically glue and paint. Everything from plywood to OSB needs them. And spray paint or varnish for your latest project. But also foam seats for your automobile and boat.
Carpets for that house you just bought or plastic diaper bags for that baby you were planning to have this next year. Good luck buying diapers. (They are MIA too....if you can find cloth ones that you wash and re-use. You might be ok....but I'd stock up on diaper rash medicine)

Meat is already high and going higher. It's not coming down until never at this moment. Cattle are stuck on the feedlots because the processing facilities are backed up with no relief in sight.

Cattle ready for slaughter are much much cheaper than cattle heading to the feedlots. That's a very very bad sign. Meaning that swinging beef is cheap but there aren't any butchers anymore in the grocery stores like there used to be. Those guys are just wrapping and stocking specialists.

There are obviously shortages. Its not causing starvation but it certainly isnt making people happy.
This is America and people are spoiled. To ignore that is stupid.

The bigger question is will it still be an issue at all 11 months from now?

If it gets fixed, probably not.
But nobody seems to be doing anything about it.

I think that the companies are doing all they can, it cost them money to have backlogs and shortages.

I am not sure what more the Fed Govt can do.

No shortage of either taxes & inflation for sure!

The real bitch of it was that was an endless sea of bags of Rold Gold Honey Mustard nugget things, but I couldn't get just regular pretzels.

BIDEN SUCKS!

Yes...
Rippling in the supply chains causes warehousing and hoarding of products. Double ordering causes returns. Low skill labor will continue to be in short supply. Which in turn backs up some supplies while leaving others untouched.

Green Coffee is in short supply and getting shorter. But vinyl bags are non existent. Since there's a huge supply gap green coffee is unnaturally low in price even though the demand has remained constant. Don't expect to find your favorite flavor on sale anytime soon. If you can find it at all.

Chocolate is another good example. Cocoa beans are in relatively decent but tight supply. However the chocolate maker's labor has evaporated...so cocoa beans are backed up and finished chocolate is super expensive.

This is going to cause problems in an ongoing basis. Shipping is still at record high prices. Not going down anytime soon either.
Marine Diesel is expensive and not dropping. Especially with the current administration's war on petroleum products.
Why spend 14,000 per container of cocoa beans worth 30,000 just to ship them? (You don't)
