As if Portland Police have not faced enough in the past year, it now looks like officers find themselves in the middle of a gang war. On Monday night, a mass shooting led to a massive police response in the city.

According to police, more than 50 shots were fired on Swan Island injuring at least four people. The gunshot victims arrived at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center just after 10:30 p.m. Soon after, a large group of people started gathering at the hospital’s entrance requiring a massive police response.

According to police, every available officer in the city was dispatched to the hospital for what they describe as an “extremely fluid situation.” KOIN6 reports that at least twenty officers were seen guarding the entrance to the hospital.
This shooting comes after last week’s announcement that Federal Bureau of Investigation agents would be hitting the streets with Portland Police Bureau officers after what they said was an “imminent” threat of retaliatory gun violence between rival gangs."
