Weird, because the red squirrels are taking over my area and chasing out the greys. The reds are far more aggressive and territorial.
Been seeing quite a few albinos lately.

That has been my observation here in the states too. The red squirrels are by far more aggressive and dominant than are the gray squirrels. And neither are as destructive as our high desert rock squirrels can be.

We also had shotguns, but our mother refused to cook any rabbit or squirrels harvested with a shotgun. There was a chance of missing a shotgun pellet when cleaning the critters and this causing a broken tooth. We became quite proficient with .22 rim fire rifles. One of my older brothers, a WWII veteran, took rabbit and squirrel with a good .22 revolver.

There was a colony of grey squirrels in a public park in South London and I enjoyed walking through it during my summer vacations. While outnumbered 10 to one, reds still maintain a number of strongholds in the north of the country and Ireland.

These creatures are the worst type of invaders driving out the red squirrel population.

But maybe there is a solution to the problem.

Squirrel is considered a delicacy in the colonies. Perhaps they could be culleed and the meat exported to the US.?

It would reduce the population and satisfy Americas voracious appetite for squirrel meat.
Everybody wins.

They are probably all migrating in from North Africa and the Middle East. You must accept them and their ways.

Last year i was in my garden when i saw this fellow on my fence, i have seen many greays but this was the first red one in many years, i had to do a double take on what i was looking at.
