Over time there has been a shift in theism that few are talking about. A belief in God used to be centered in the ignorant and uneducated, but as time goes on, you have to be ignorant and uneducated to continue believing that the universe and life on earth "just happened," which is basically what atheists believe.

Reasons for global rise of atheism

1. Mass continued to be done in Latin, a language no one understands including the ones giving the mass. Yea, probably not a good idea.

2. Atheists get to be loud and proud hypocrites instead of just faking it or trying to do better.

3. Once another atheist like Stalin takes over your head won't be first on the chopping block since you don't believe in God.

4. Atheists already enjoy the best of religion, such as the weekends started by the Sabbath and celebrating Christmas, etc., but with the added benefit of not having to go to church. Yay!

5. You get to kill your unborn children instead of having to pay to raise them without an ounce of guilt. That right there is enough for most.

Sound like a win/win aside from the eternal torment after you die and the inability to call upon a higher power when man either is unable to help your or unwilling to do so, but I think that is only common sense.

The most poignant question to ask an atheist: Do you hope that you are right - that there is no life after death, no reward for virtue or punishment for evil in this life?

I was brought up Catholic. I never heard a Latin mass in my life.

Except we don't have weekends off because of "religion". Up until the mid-20th century, most people were expected to work six days a week. From childhood to early death in your 50s.

The commie Labor Movement gave us the weekend. And the 40 hour workweek. And medical benefits.

However, a fetus carried by a woman is a human life. I don't recall his name, but there was a scientist who was studying aborted embryos for the information that could be gleaned. One evening, as usual, when he arrived home,he was gleefully greeted by his two sons, ages three and five. He was struck by the different stages of development in the two boys--how human development at age five, differed from the development at age three.

It gave him pause, because of his work, he knew how embryos, fetus' had different stages of development. The upshot is that he had to go into another line of work. Whether one calls it "child", "baby", or "fetus", it is still a human life being killed.

When I was in the service, I knew this gal, dating one of my fellow NCO's who was an utter creep. Basically promised to marry her, never followed through. So one day, she found she was pregnant. she claimed the pills were making her loopy, he suspected she was trying to trap her into marriage.

Of course, she had an abortion. This was despite being a very devout Catholic from a very conservative Asian family.

I would have no problem with policies that result in less abortions. Conservatives would never go along with that because it would be higher taxes and more government.
