Breaking: no acceleration in sea level rise detected worldwide

Well now, how many multi-billion dollar seaports were flooded by those rapid sea level rises? Yes, let us put that in context. About a 300 ft sea level rise as we came out of the last ice age maximum. However, at that time we did not have the huge infrastructure in ports that we have today. Even a 1 meter sea level rise would cause trillions in infrastructure damage today. And we will get that before this century ends.

Well, the only way you will "get that" is if the US, Russia, and China launch all nuclear missiles at Antarctica at the same time...

That's a worst case scenario prediction from 30 years ago. The latest data suggests 50 cm and even that is highly overestimated when you look at the actual data.

The Obamas would have you believe in rising sea levels, even as they buy seaside properties in Nanucket and Hawaii.

From the referenced study:

... the overestimation along the Atlantic coast of North America is 4 mm/year to 5 mm/year; the highest overestimation found anywhere.

This is the comparison between the global IPCC perspective and measured local sea level changes. I would hazard a guess that politics played a role in that.

The dates I mentioned were after the last glacial period ended. About 6,000 years ago the rate the seas were rising out leveled off. There is very little difference in the rate today and the rate for the past 6,000 years.

aka it is 100% pure FUDGED FRAUD, because there is no ocean rise on Earth...
That’s idiotic. The seas always rise when the northern hemisphere deglaciates like it is doing today.

For a trivial amount of temperature increase we should expect a trivial amount of sea level rise ...

For perspective ... continents move ten times faster ... on the order of 30 mm/yr ... or more ...

Yawn the long-known hazard of building right on the ocean shore...., the planet doesn't have any interest in preserving dumb human building it does what it does for a billion years now which is to build up and tear down over time.

Beach houses don't last long enough to be inundated by sea level rise ...

Woe is he who buildeth on beach sand -- something like that somewhere in the Bible

Takeaways:
1. Yes, sea level rise is occurring. No, it is not accelerating.
2. Sea level values simulated by the IPCC are systematically too high, on average about 2 mm/year higher than the measured values.
3. The actual average rate of rise is 1.7mm +/- 0.4mm per year
4. At the current rate of rise, by the year 2100, sea levels will be 5 inches higher than today.

And here I spent $200,000 putting my home on stilts.

A new peer-reviewed study published in the Journal of Marine Science and Engineering challenges a key claim of climate science: that global sea level rise is accelerating. An analysis of more than 200 long-term tide gauge records shows no evidence of such acceleration, while IPCC models systematically overestimate local sea level rise.

The paper also shows that IPCC models significantly overestimate local sea level rise in 2020. This new publication is a follow-up to an earlier paper from 2023 in which first author Hessel Voortman demonstrated that sea level rise along the Dutch coast was not accelerating.

These two paragraphs are the opening of a press release sent out on August 29 by engineer Hessel Voortman. Voortman spoke about his sea level research at the Clintel conference last year. Together with Rob de Vos (blogger at klimaatgek.nl), he has now published a scientific paper in which they demonstrate that sea levels are not rising at an accelerated rate worldwide. This is a spectacular result because climate scientists have been crying wolf about accelerating sea level rise in recent years.

What an absolute moron.

.... not if the southern hemisphere grows ice faster than the northern is losing it...

And it is unclear if the northern hemisphere is losing ice overall, since by far the biggest piece, Greenland, is growing. Ellesmere, sea ice, the rest is shrinking as it moves away from North Pole.

And that isn't even the full equation.

Humans do two things that increase sea levels.

1. matter from land is transformed into boats that displace massive amounts of water
2. the burning of hydrocarbons increases the amount of H2O on the planet

THOSE TWO mask what is really going on with ICE. The real truth is that BOTH ANTARCTICA AND GREENLAND, 97% of Earth ice, are adding ice every year, and will continue to do so... and that is dropping sea level.

Lol. Stilts are for flooding and storm surge, not for permanent sea in your yard.
Thats an AI pic. Youll notice that there isnt any way to get upstairs. There are no stairs, or elevator, or even a ladder. Its a cool concept for a house though.

WTF was that supposed to be?

Yes, it was funny, but not in the way you think.

Over the last 3 million years there have been ~30 glacial cycles consisting of long periods of cold temperatures and short periods of warm temperatures. Changes in sea levels follow a predictable and logical pattern. There is nothing unusual occurring today. There has been no appreciable change in the rate of sea level rise for the past 6,000 years.

According to the article, only a fraction of worldwide stations show significant acceleration. Most of these are located right next to stations that do not show significant acceleration.

I would like to hear the science that explains accelerating seal rise in Louisiana but not the west coast of Florida, or Tokyo but not Osaka.
