"The solidarity of American communities in the face of catastrophe, whether natural or manmade, is an aspect of our national character that most of us cherish. We never tire of stories about our fellow citizens upholding one another at the worst of times. We venerate the firefighters, emergency service workers, law enforcement officers and ordinary neighbors whose endurance and sacrifice hold communities together against cruel circumstance — without regard to race, creed, color, gender or partisan affiliation.

Or at least we did during much of our history. Yet as huge swaths of Los Angeles are consumed by wildfire, it is striking to see those traditional American values torched by a self-serving coterie of right-wing billionaires, whose loyalty to any principle beyond self-aggrandizement is nil: Rupert Murdoch, Elon Musk and of course their political avatar Donald Trump, the president-elect.

While the LA blaze rages on, all three of these men have used their gigantic public platforms to stoke a different but exceptionally destructive conflagration. Rather than encourage patriotic bonding and mutual aid, they broadcast messages of division, hatred and suspicion, served up in a poisonous stew of blatant lies, conspiracy theories and wretched nonsense."

With his divisive lies, Trump continues to prove he’s unfit to be president.

What lies?

Democrats are so incompetent they can't extinguish a fire IN 5 DAYS?

Stone cold TRUTH can hurt some times eh?
Why are you being intentionally dishonest while attempting to make other people look like they're the liars?

You're blaming "Democratic incompetence" for the alleged "inability to extinguish a fire in 5 DAYS" when you've participated in discussions here on this board, regarding how 80 to 100 mph Santa Ana winds made battling this fire during the first 24 hours impossible according to the fire chiefs there on the ground fighting the fires. What is it that makes you all need a boogey man to blame everything on?
Fire Near L.A. -Evac's Homes Burning High Winds

You're blaming nature, aka "acts of God" on Democratic incompetence, so I suppose that means in your mind that the Democratics now control the winds surging out of the high deserts to the east of the Los Angeles basin with enough strength to blow walls of fire throughout entire neighborhoods of Los Angeles?

Can I congratulate you on your spin abilities. The joke Democrats running California epically messed up on fire defence, and you spun the above on Trump. Truly amazing.

You're argument is utter rubbish and obfuscation. I am NOT blaming democrats for the fires starting. I am blaming democrats for not being able to extinguish them for 5 fucking days and who knows how much longer?

If the fires are still burning when Trump is sworn in & Trump has them extinguished in 5 hours...will you THEN be willing to blame a democrat?

Probably not I would guess.

What, we're supposed to just go along with the failed Democrats in California?

Democrats are above criticism?

Even Los Angelinos are pissed off.

If you fuckers could use this disaster against Trump, you know your u damn sure would.

What made battling the fire impossible was running out of water and defending the LAFD.

Bureaucracy, Red Tape, and a Failed Gavin Newsom Project: Why California Moved Slowly in Wildfire Prevention

The OP has the audacity to call out the Right Wing Rich as the root of our problems.
Ignorance taken to breathtaking new lows by the utterly ignorant...on a daily basis.

This is why the Right in power should stop being so GD pleasant, tolerant and accommodating to these fools.
They NEVER learn and ALWAYS double down on destructive stupidity.

They have massive water trucks called "Water buffalos"...the fed could have had them rolling in days ago...or minutes ago. Why haven't they used them?

They should be bulldozing all trees on either side of highways & roads to widen fire breaks.

They have fire fighters who jump in by parachute to fight fires in remote locations.

NONE of this has been deployed yet. (not that has been reported anyway)...WTF?

Division is all Republicans know OP. They, for damn sure, don't have any policies.
So, let me guess: failed Democrat cities can't be criticized? Or, did the state and city governments do the best that could be done?
