Stimulus Talks Breakdown - Trump Vows to Govern By Executive Order!

meadows never did a bipartisan deal on legislation. NEVER. He was a freedom caucus. guy. And Trump's never gotten a deal. He was offered one on the wall, but when he tried to take it, right wing radio erupted.

I suspect McConnell was right in saying no goper would support 950 billion in state support. And Pelosi was right in saying the dems weren't taking less than 2 trillion.

There could have been ways to get there, such as reducing Medicaid state shares. But Meadows and Munchkin are the JV in terms of legislation. And I suspect that Trump really wants to try the EO route. He's going to get hammered. Both parties promised another set of $1200 checks. A payroll tax cut is worthless to people who lost jobs.

Just another week of Trump fucking up on the virus. And it's not going to disappear.

I am sorry that families will suffer needlessly though.

Gosh who would have thunk that Mark Meadows, famous for stone walling and NOT negotiating in the House,
would NOT be able to negotiate a settlement between the House and the President. So unthinkable!

And now, the President will govern by Executive Order!

Wait.. a second. Didn't you Republicans say that was HIGHLY ILLEGAL and NOT the way to run a government under Obama? You complained when Obama did one for DACA, and NOW Trump is going to use it to pass 3 of them?

Negotiations between Democrats, Republicans, and the White House over a new stimulus bill are at a stalemate after two weeks, and President Trump is now expected to attempt to bypass the need for a deal by enacting executive orders on various issues.

“Stay tuned,” White House Economic Adviser Larry Kudlow told Bloomberg News on Friday when asked about executive powers. “You can be assured [the president] will be out and about today, and probably tomorrow, talking about this.”

Kudlow later added that executive orders would involve three big provisions of any stimulus bill: “The evictions, the payroll tax, unemployment reform.” Trump’s authority to sign executive orders on those provisions has been questioned not only by Democrats but also by Kudlow, who previously said that the extension of the unemployment benefits “requires an act of Congress.”

DEMS LOWER THE BAR — GOP STILL WON’T REACH IT

What a mess...

The 3+ trillion proposal made by Democrats wasn't stimulus. It was economic suicide with a big side dish of "this will wipe out the Republican party forever". If they even considered that this travesty would be considered seriously, they're dumber than anyone thought
Moscow Mitch had two months to negotiate with the house. He never even tried. Republicans own this.
You got that all wrong, Qdog. Democrats authored this 3+ trillion travesty and Republicans rejected it which was the correct thing to do. The Democrats who tried to run this scam are no better than the communist chinese bastards who spread their virus around the world. But I can't say that I'm surprised that this Democrat bunch would try to pull this kind of bullshit. This fits their MO.
Republicans.made no attempt to negotiate. They own this.

I bet Trump won't be able to answer any questions on any legislation. He's been winging it for nearly 4 years.
Another note, Meadows was supposed to be Trump's point man and was tasked to bring the campaign forward. Since his arrival it has been a disaster and the WH knows it.
I wonder if there will be any questions about the jobs report that came out for July? I bet he can answer those questions.
The numbers were good across the board for Blacks, Asians, Hispanics and Caucasians.
Perhaps, he's right once again that we don't need trillions to bail out the poorly run democrat states.
Meanwhile, he is golfing while 2000 people died today and NJ got slammed by a hurricane.
He is also going to 3 $$$ fundraisers this weekend... all on the taxpayers money. Such a deal.
Nice deflection, Skippy. You couldn't bitch about the good jobs report, could you?

Since he has inserted his people into those offices I don't think anyone can trust the numbers any, but an average of 1.4 million new claims every week are not "good" numbers.
Got a link that says differently? If not....go pound sand.

It's the Republican states that are in trouble: Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, etc...
Oh brother, look at the state pension debts in those deep blue states, sonny.

Dimms have moved the goalposts to 31/2 trillion. Hell, they want $50 billion alone for childcare.
What a sorry-ass bunch of negotiators!

The recent Supreme Court decision makes it harder to overturn an EO in my opinion.

But, if Trump signs an EO extending UI at $600 until the end of the year, halting evictions and suspending the payroll tax, I can't imagine the Dems suing to stop it. That would be a pretty bad look for Pelosi. Most people do not care about what's in the weeds of these bills, just that the Dems went to court to stop them from getting their cash.

The Dems will come back to the table and drop some of their demands to make the deal soon, rather than seeing Trump turn the tables on them.

No one ever said using an EO was illegal as far as I know. You Democrats had no problems governing by EO when Obama was doing it and yes it is a bad way to govern no matter which side is doing it because it shows both are unwilling to negotiate or compromise. This like pretty much everything in the political world falls in the it’s only wrong when the other side does folder.

The authoritarian right’s support of the Imperial Presidency is one of many reasons why Republicans are unfit to govern.

Ya know, you’ve got a woman like Nanci Pelosi who will fight for funding the planned parenthood that allows hundreds and hundreds of unborn children to be murdered but turns up the rhetoric to say “Everyone knows i always say I look at these things from the child view, and I’m thinking about the kids in our proposal, the republicans don’t care about the kids or we’d have a deal.” (Paraphrased). Too much infant blood on your hands to play child advocate. Disgusting. Trump should at this point take control, and not let the dems get a single word in. They justify looting and murders bc “oh no, storm trooper federal soldiers!!! Mr. Trump, stop scaring everyone and making things worse!!” How depraved can you be to act like you care when you litigate the slaughter of generations. You have no voice of reason so you shouldn’t be listened to, keep your freedom of speech, but we don’t have to listen to it.

What a mess...
$3 trillion to $2 trillion, with bailouts to all your favored constituency freebooters remaining, isn't' "lowering the bar"...It's just evidence of how insane your starting point was.

But I wouldn't expect a rapacious looter like you to recognize that fact.
