Steelers fans should be livid about not using or misusing DK Metcalf.

OK full disclosure, the only reason I bring this up is Metcalf is on my fantasy football team so I pay attention to Steelers games. Last night was ridiculous. Steelers could do nothing on offense and Metcalf had 3 catches for a measly 35 yards. They keep trying to hit him on long bombs when he's double covered. The guy is huge! All they have to do is hit him on short comeback routes or quick slants. Do that a few times and THEN break him long. They paid $150 million for him and he's basically a hood ornament for the Steelers.

The Steelers have been languishing in mediocrity for a decade. Tomlin is afraid of having a losing season, he's built a HOF career on the fact that he's a little over .500.

Steelers head coaches seem to have an advantage for tenure.

True. The whole fact you bring Rodgers and Metcalf is to rise above mediocrity. They still have a chance to make some noise in the playoffs, but not utilizing your number one receiving weapon isn't going to get it done.

Is it though? Rodgers isnt what he used to be. He's a middle of the road guy now. The Steelers paid a bunch of money to a bunch of older players who are good enough to not lose but not nearly good enough to win anything. Rodgers is no different.

Maybe the Chargers "took away" the Metcalf option? The other recievers did not look good, dropping passes. Rogers also missed 3-4 throws as the Defense was good.

They did on long throws, but with his big body they should work him short like a tight end. Then when they cheat up, break long. May not have made a difference but geez sending him long every play makes no sense since they just double with a safety over the top.

IMO, his early, successful years where the Steelers actually won playoffs and stuff was due to his still having most of the team Bill Cowher had left him. As all those players eventually left and the team became truly 100% a reflection of his stewardship (the last decade), the Steelers have bitten the big one.

I mean, they don't just lose, they don't make a good show of it, they get run into the ground embarrassingly.
  • Sometimes the other team makes Pittsburgh their *****.
  • Sometimes the Steelers look like they are just totally unprepared.
  • Sometimes the Steelers play like a bunch of guys who just met on the street 15 minutes before the game.
Media and the city keeps blaming the players but Pittsburgh has had amazing talent gone through its hands the past 10-12 years, and all the players have been blamed and traded, all of the coaches have been blamed and traded, all of the so-called playing strategies have been changed, yet, the problems remain and persist.

The ONLY thing consistent through ten years of bad football is the HEAD COACH.

Rogers was interviewed after the game to tell the reporter that offensively, every time Aaron tried to run a play, the Chargers were on top of it, anticipating it. And when he got an opening, either he threw badly or the receiver just didn't catch it.

Then there is Friermeuth (88) the tight end. They just gave this guy a HUGE contract as their #1 TE making a TON of money and he has spent the year sitting on the bench! They used him 1 time against the Chargers.

Metcalf is the only WR on the team who can kind of take the top off the defense.

I agree, but what I'm saying is use his size to advantage and complete 4 or 5 short passes to him where he either posts up a defender or runs comeback or quick slant routes. THEN send him deep.

The problem is they already have guys running those routes. If everyone is running them the defense can shrink down put more hats in the box. No throwing lanes and you can’t run

I’m sure Jerry Rice would do pretty well when he would get open if he were playing today. Doesn’t mean he’s as good as he was in the 80s.
Regardless...... he's still a viable threat.

Where's your Rodgers second coming support.

Cut me a break......
