Not when we were defending our own country or overseas territories against an enemy. But these days politicians involve us in wars far away from home that have little relevance or threat to the UK or our territories. They have committed us to wars that have been based on lies and deceptions and to make matters worse thought nothing of throwing our troops in at the deep end without any thought of a valid exit strategy. Worse of all, they do all this while constantly cutting the budget to the extent that we would now find it difficult to defend our own shores with what we've got! I spent over two decades serving in the military but if I had my time over again I would not enlist while we are governed by self-serving charlatans and liars that seem to be the current norm.

Probably but can't remember who, the US tried to involve the UK in Vietnam, at the time Harold Wilson was Prime Minister who told them to take a hike.

Spot on Bootneck, i think WW2 is one war where this Country was under threat, i would have volunteered to fight in that War, my Dad did who joined the army. and his younger Brother walked to the next town to enlist but was rejected because he was too young, he joined the Royal Navy a year later, i also had three Cousins who served in the army in more recent times but they found themselves in NI really doing a police job fighting terrorism not a conventional war.
