I picked this one up today. It's a Armas Erbi SCI.....20" barrels. 12 ga 2-3/4" chambers. I gave $250.00 for it.

Looks to have been made in Dec of 1976....They are of good quality.

I suspect it's one of their normal 28" sporting shotguns with shortened barrels.

These were not imported into the US, most got here by GIs buying them in Spain and bringing them home.

I've had a lot of different "coach guns" over the years but all were stiff as hell.

This one operates like a good DB should. Well used but very tight. Chromed bores.

Case hardened boxlock with a bit of rudimentary engraving, cut checkering on the grip and forend.

The scroll work on the barrel looks had done, but I have to say. The plate looks to be cast or stamped.

I could be wrong.

My best friend had that very gun. It rocked.
Nice find.

Do you remember if it was 20" or 28".
20".
I wish he still had it but he and I both swapped/bought/sold guns back in those days (1980s) at a record pace. I wish I still had a number of the guns I traded away ... some real classics.
Same with him.
And that coach gun was one of 'em.

Huh, awful fancy for a coach gun.

Hey, trickin' & tradin' is part of the fun. ;)

I can't stand exposed hammers on a shotgun unless it's a muzzle loader. Lock time is too slow.
And too many things can get caught between the hammer and firing pin. I like 'em enclosed.

CASS events had a lot of NDs due to shooter's thumbs slipping off the hammers. Shooting for time and hammer shotguns do not go together. I don't know what they did to mitigate the problem.

Well damn, it turns out that it's not a "coach gun" at all!

I noticed that it was choked Improved Cylinder/Improved Modified according to my choke gauge and did some searching.

It seems that they made them for game keepers/land managers......Makes some sense as they could be used both with both buckshot and smaller shot and the handiness of the gun can't be denied.

Seems I also messed up on the proof/date.....The shotgun was made between 1929 and 1931.

A True Coach Gun has 18-20 inch Barrels and hammers ?
