I was against retiring the shuttle before a replacement was ready.

Right now Musk is at the forefront of America's space race with the rest of the world.

The Chinese landed a rover on the dark side of the moon some years ago, Musk has done nothing like that, just launch vanilla rockets into earth orbit, I mean is that it? is that exciting?

The Boeing vehicle actually returned from the ISS flawlessly, I have no idea what led NASA to abort that, I wasn't involved. I wouldn't be surprised if Musk was pulling strings behind the scenes, I wouldn't be even a little surprised if that was the case.

There were some indications that the atmosphere inside the vehicle could be compromised because they checked on some type of seals and it showed that some were inoperative and I believed this caused concern on reentry, so they returned unmanned. The airworthiness was not the concern, more about the atmosphere inside of it (not sure if this is entirely accurate, but something to this effect)

That is true, but that doesn't interest me and he's ridden on the coat tails of true innovators that came before and the computer technology and instrumentation abilities we have are tens of thousands of time beyond what NASA had in the 60s, all that is now off the shelf, mass produced and cheap and none of that is due to Musk, he has contributed zero to the development of semiconductors and computer technology.

30 years to late space is going from the realm of governments only to truly being open to the private sector and private individuals.

WTF! SpaceX's biggest customer is the United States government! NASA in the 50s relied on private companies, Boeing, IBM, McDonnel Douglas and many more.
