South Korea may consider directly supplying weapons to Ukraine as part of measures to counter military ties between North Korea and Russia, officials said on Tuesday, after accusing Pyongyang of sending troops to fight for Russia in Ukraine.
South Korea's spy agency said last week that North Korea had shipped 1,500 special forces personnel to Russia's Far East for training and acclimatising at local military bases likely for combat in the war in Ukraine.
A senior official at President Yoon Suk Yeol's office said it was preparing diplomatic, economic and military measures under various scenarios of military cooperation between Pyongyang and Moscow, including providing Ukraine with lethal weapons if the situation worsened.
"We would consider supplying weapons for defensive purposes as part of the step-by-step scenarios, and if it seems they are going too far, we might also consider offensive use," the presidential official told reporters.

Exciting times we are living in.

We need to ask ourselves who benefits the most from the non-ending fight over Ukraine.

The answer starts with C and ends with A.

It’s funny, until they come and try to kill you or your loved ones. One thing I can tell you, North Koreans fighting Ukrainians in Ukraine was not in my bingo book for 2024

C---a is not the one that fuels this war supplying outdated weapons and money to the Ukrainian government.

Indeed they are not, but they do help the Russians, which keeps the war going...which makes both sides weaker in the long run. China is happy to see us waste our money and equipment in Ukraine

Indeed, they do and they is. Buy it is not China's fault that the current US administration chose absolutely incompetent and untouched-with-reality strategy in the war.

Except of that, some people say that the things may be a bit more complicated than that. The US spends quite modest recourses on this war in exchange of making sure the EU not becoming an economic and financial rival of America.

It is not. but it is not just the current one, this has been going on for decades.

I have dozens on post on here talking about the US wasting trillions in the ME while China was helping to build ports and railways and all sorts of things for countries all over the world.

Support for Ukraine is not ideal

Its expensive

But allowing Putin conqueror Ukraine by military force is even worse

Says it all .
Zero News value .
Oh contraire. Russia is very nervous that their move may have backfired. South Korea may be the #2 or #3 largest producer of artillery tubes and ammunition, and has been backfilling the US. If they wanted they could literally send a million 155mm shells to Ukraine.

In a much wider scale, yes. Without significant industrial and technological advance, and thus not being able to do old good gunboat diplomacy, the Western 'elites' are quite helpless and pitiful.

The answer starts with Ukrainian citizens and ends with Ukrainian citizens, whose alternative is bending the knee to a genocidal maniac who would see them murdered before allowing them to live free.

Yet the answer includes billons of dollars of arms and equipment being given to Ukraine by multiple countries around the world

Correct. Because a military superpower has invaded them. You heard about that, right? ;)

They might have once been a military superpower, that has been proven to be a false now. If they were an actual military superpower it would take more than just sending equipment to them.

Either way the big winner in the whole affair is China. A rival, Russia, is now subservient to them. The West is wasting billions upon billions on the war, a war that Russia can no longer afford to win or lose, it needs it to continue as their entire economy is tied to it.

Compared to their tiny neighbor, they are indeed a superpower.

And the weapons and training so far have turned the Russian invasion into a failure. Stalemate is failure, for Russia.

Without the assistance, Russian turns Ukraine into a pile of ash and dead bodies.

I don't think leaving them to their fate to spite China is a compelling idea.
