South Korea Issues Update on Georgia Hyundai Plant ICE Raid

I wonder why no one seems to be talking about this!

If there was a better example of how ham fisted and chaotic Trump’s ICE raids actually are, this is certainly it.

Only this time, the entire world gets to see Trump and his flunkies make asses of themselves and digrace the country with this stupidity.

It's in Newsweek, a publication with decent circulation. What do you mean no one is talking about it?

I see a lot of construction taking place

But are you saying that electric engineers are exempt from our visa and labor laws?

Nope. I’m fine with if the broke the law and booting them.

I’m just pointing out that the South Koreans were not slinging construction steel and concrete.

They were skilled technicians involved with equipment setup, installation, calibration, and training.

Before committing to a $24 Billion investment South Korea should have made needed visas part of the deal on the front end and let the administration figure it how to get enough.

I’m betting foreign investors are learning that lesson.

This is what I said in an earlier post. That the outcome of the Hyundai plant raid could have a negative impact of future foreign investment if the companies can't get visa's that allow foreign experts to come into the country to install, configure, and traing on complex systems and manufacturing techniques.

I'm fine with the Administration deporting those here illegally, but companies going forward are going to make access to the visa's they need part of the milestones for investment.

Looks like the Administration is getting that idea.

I thought Trump only targeted Latinos and Brown people? Be careful….. posting this flies against that agenda as it looks like the Trump Administration is being consistent in Immigration Enforcement.

Many were in construction

But are you saying that engineers can break the law because they are more important than steel workers?

Hyundai was applying the anything-they-can-get-away-with Korean business model to their operations in America

And thats not acceptable

Notice He repeatedly used the wording 'for a period of time '.

Apparently the previous administration was confused about that.

450 illegal workers says its true

They were here on valid B1/B2 visas, working on getting a battery plant up and running

I sure Hyundai would prefer low wage Koreans so the supervisors do not need to learn English to communicate with
more likely that hyundai is building a copy of a factory already existing in south korea.
Its most effective to use experienced personnel to bring up another copy of the factory.

You are guessing about the factory

In any case US engineers can read blueprints and follow instructions

Hyundai is cutting corners and breaking US laws to save money and thats not acceptable

They're also learning that the United States is a difficult and unpredictable place to do business.

You are guessing with your claim about cutting corners. No evidence, but you believe it anyway,,

Not if one complies with the law. Hyundai expressed concerns over this as the Biden administration gave a wink and a nod on the visas......

The primary purpose of importing foreign workers is that they work cheap

Local union leaders were complaining about the non union subcontractors taking union work and extending the length of time required to do the work.
