Because US Steel is NOT BEING SOLD? Can somebody help me with this. What is it that the Union leadership is missing out on that pisses them off about this?

I can understand not having a vital industry owned off continent. Though I think we buy more steel than we sell at this point....still the idea of keeping ownership local seems to make sense.

Union leadership supports it not being sold. Maybe look elsewhere other than "Annie" for your news.
That's not what the article says

Union leaders won't get their cut....

This guy gets it...

Nippon is willing to invest in modernization, while the current ownership is not. It's as simple as that. USS is on a slow path to bankruptcy. Concerns about having these mills owned by "foreigners" are silly. They cannot take them back to Japan. In the event of a war, those mills will be working as hard as ever - and more efficiently - to do their bit in the effort.

"In the event of a war"? With whom?

I thought President Trump was siding with the union here? I was under the impression that the USWA was against the US Steel-Nippon deal?

Probably demanding that Trump buys it.... so the US becomes like a Communist country.
