Judge scorches Trump admin for stonewalling in Abrego Garcia deportation case

A federal judge accused the Trump administration Tuesday of intentionally flouting her order to provide details about the illegal deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia to El Salvador.

U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis said the administration is attempting to “obstruct” efforts to unearth details about Abrego Garcia’s improper deportation to El Salvador and had provided “vague” and “evasive” answers to court-ordered inquiries as part of an ongoing lawsuit.

As Sec. Bessent said about the China tariffs, "this is not sustainable." The courts are trying to force the regime to comply with court orders and the rule of law. The regime isn't budging.

If the latter persists contempt charges will be filed. Then we'll find out if this matter is the hill the regime wants to metaphorically die on.

Do you really think enough people give a shit about Garcia to make this a "constitutional crisis?"

The guy came here to claim amnesty status what .... THIRTEEN years ago. Shuda been sent back years ago. there's enough in his traffic stop to justify revoking a US citizen's parole or suspended sentence with no right to a jury, just a judge saying .... yeah, he may have committed a crime, so fucked he is.

The government has also refused to answer questions about its contract with the Salvadoran government, and which Salvadoran officials U.S. officials have been communicating with about Abrego Garcia’s return, the judge wrote.

The administration’s refusal to provide information comes after Xinis last week ordered an “intense” two-week inquiry into the Trump administration’s efforts. She initiated the discovery period after finding unsatisfactory the administration’s initial responses to her requests for updates in Abrego Garcia’s case.

“Defendants have failed to respond in good faith, and their refusal to do so can only be viewed as willful and intentional noncompliance,” Xinis wrote in her new order.

“The Constitution does not tolerate willful disobedience of judicial orders — especially by officials of a coordinate branch who have sworn an oath to uphold it,” the opinion reads.

This is a discovery dispute bergie. Happens 10,000 times a day, every day.

Uh --- it's not caring about Garcia. It's caring about fundamental limits on state power.
No it's about Garcia. Why was this guy still here after thirteen years? His wife charged domestic violence. Why was he arrested with 7 people and no luggage? THAT and traficking charge will get you sent back to jail if you're an American on parole or a suspended sentence.

"fundamental limits of state power" don't make sense if the state is not doing something very wrong.

And Andrew Jackson established the Courts should not be issuing orders it cannot enforce.
No he didn't. He dared the court to enforce its order, making the point the judicial branch has no enforcement mechanism other than holding the executive branch in contempt. Exemplifying how fragile the constitutional order is if the executive chooses to ignore the courts.

Normally that is when Congress, with its impeachment power, would step in. But the House Repubs have shown they are prepared to subvert the Constitution to Dear Leader.

Kidding? The state, in this case the trump regime, is in violation of court orders. What's up with you folks that you can't comprehend the demonstrable truth?

Courts make mistakes too. Imo the issue is simply raw power. The only power the Sup Ct, or any court, has is its own reputation for fairness and integrity. Both progs and maga agree that the courts don't have that anymore. So, the judiciary is no less hemmed in by political opinions than the other branches. But the current theorcrats on the Court believe they answer to the Papist god.

It's a constitutional crisis any time the executive branch refuses to comply with a court order that has not been stayed or overturned.
Sounds like this nation does not have one president, but a hell of a lot more in black robes as paid judges.

Not sure why this needs to be such a mystery.
If the media sources they used called out trump's lies instead of reinforcing them the country would be in a different place.
