Somebody named Cal Raleigh has 32 homers before the All-Star Break! Who?

I know of him. Hope he is not juicing. Switch hitter too I am pretty sure.

They say steroids don't help, “ Barry was good before a PITT 150lbs”. Then the juice. Shoes/hat up 2 sizes at middle age? 73 home runs when it was a miracle people hit 45 prior. Sosa McGwire Canseco on and on. Big thumpers. Big Juicers.

Rick Ankiel pitcher who couldn’t throw strikes. They tried him in RF. He was hitting homers better than anyone ever, like 10 straight games. Then they got a picture of a box of HGH shipped to his home, never heard from again. Brady Anderson 52 bombs. WHO?

Oh, I could go on. But too many posters play the “Barry was good before” game. Makes me angry. McGwire was juicing for HOF Tony Larussa at OAK. Took him to STL. Before juice he too was pretty good.

Catchers get leg injuries, partly just by squatting all day, and sometimes in collisions. If they never get injured, they're still likely to be slower than average. So the catchers are more likely to take home run swings to avoid sprinting for singles.

True, but no catcher in history has hit home runs at this clip. He leads the MAJORS in home runs. I hope he stays out of the stupid "home run derby". Just an injury waiting to happen.

if he stays healthy he should break the catchers season HR record of 48.....

Maybe the pitching sucks this year and he's a competent slugger facing minor league talent. The pressure to throw 100 mph is wrecking arms.

That doesn't fit. He has 4 more than Judge and 5 more than Ohtani, both in 2nd and 3rd.

If that were true they would have more than The Big Dumper.

There is only one other catcher in the top 25, someone with the Angels has 17.

he has improved each year....2022..27 hr 63 rbi....211 ba....2023....30 75 .232.....2024...34 ....100.....312.....now at the half way mark....32....69.....281....right now he is the best catcher in baseball...

this is his 3rd straight 30 homer season...gold glove last year....

I used to be such a sports junkie that I knew all of this. But with my 100% Media News Blackout, I just don't know stats or records till late in the season. Like Playoffs I may begin to take a look.

I pay the fee for full MLB channel but the last few years, if I have a game on it is mostly on MUTE. Avoid Commercials and LW babble from the announcers. Now that I have done it for so long.....not on MUTE is annoying. Closed Caption is the way to go.

I look at one or two internet sites if I am making entertainment bets to see if anything big is going on. Wild Card week (last week) in MLB is usually when the excitement ratchets up. But I have not figured any good way to bet MLB? So slow? What do you do? Pick the SP to go over 5 innings? Give up less than 2 runs? That takes an hour to come in. Bet LA to win at -400? Bet $100 to win $25. Uh no thanks, won't take that risk and too boring. Not like NBA or NFL betting.

Bet the Diamondbacks to not sweep a series. If they win the first two games bet the farm they lose the last one. Seems to happen about 90 percent of the time.

So last night he hit 33, and here is where he stands in history: Tied for 3rd all time with most HR's before July, tied with Griffey Jr. and Sammy Sosa, trails only the steroid kings, McGwire and Bonds.

15th post
won the gold glove last year,,,,
He won the Platinum Glove last year for the AL, this was started in 2011 and goes to the best defensive player in each league. Nolan Arenado won it 6 times in the NL (Colorado and St. Louis), and Yadier Molina has also won it multiple times, there are a couple catchers from both leagues who have won it.

Anywhere else but Seattle and he is the face of baseball.

Talk about a coaches dream! A switch hitting, gold glove catcher with historic power. Amazing.

Sosa. Right. Steroids dont help hit HR as they want you to believe for Roid Bonds.
