In the article at the link below: “7 Million Americans Get Taxed Into Poverty Every Year”, the author explains how the federal tax system is geared towards helping low and middle income families by requiring higher taxes from men and women in those groups who have no children.
The primary thrust of his Op Ed piece was to reason that people who cannot afford to pay should be given some slack. After all, even if these workers paid no federal income tax, most still pay states' sales taxes, taxes on the fuel they buy for their cars, and the other hidden government charges necessary to keep the U.S. war machine operating.
Obama and Ryan both have offered plans to prevent this slip into poverty by these seven million people. Obama’s proposal is to raise the taxes on those who are well above the poverty level. Ryan on the other hand, wants to protect one group of these endangered poor folks by throwing another segment of the impoverished under the bus. This is typical of the GOP, to play the shell game with low income Americans in order to protect the fat cats’ wealth.
Until the human race can eliminate financial greed and the lust for power rampant in the one percent, the income gap (which many right-wingers deny exists) will continue to widen. More and more citizens deemed insignificant by conservatives will sink below the poverty line as the fat cats find other methods to make wealth flow upward.
Libertarians should especially take notice of this fact, since their ideal society can only flourish when ALL MEMBERS always do the right thing. And what are the chances of this happening any time soon?
As the title of this OP states, “Somebody Must Pay”, conservatives have made it clear they want the poor to pay considerably more than they can afford, and the fat cats to pay as little as possible.
Now, the conservatives will respond with their typical Republican talking points and right wing BS, proving as always, they are clueless.
