Today I went to Publix and saw the meager produce they have there. Usually Publix has some of the best produce in town....but recently everything is substandard. And what is really shocking is how much everything costs. They had about 20 smaller than normal Grapefruit that were priced at $2.86 apiece. One Grapefruit that costs almost $3.00!!!!!

I haven't been able to find any decent Grapefruit all this year....but now the price is ridiculous.

Regardless of the price of gas being below $3 the cost of everything is still going up.

I keep getting the feeling they're trying to wean us off of foods that help us fight disease and infections. Is it just me?

Where in Florida are you?

I was just in Publix two days ago here in St. Johns County, and they had plenty of produce; really good looking stuff.

As for the prices, that's across the board..

There is a decline in grapefruit farm land... much has been bought up by developers.... fewer farms = higher costs... but they are $125 more under Joe's recession... they are up to about $ 1.50 a pound... sometimes more.... this hurricane won't help....

There is also an invasive fungus called "citrus greening" that has resulted in entire groves to be cut down in recent years to stop the spread.

Ahhhhh....yesssss....the old "citrus greening" routine.
Seems strange how there have been so many bird diseases and cattle overheating excuses lately.
They wipe out massive swaths of turkeys, chickens, pigs, cattle, and every other food source to cause shortages.
Just one more aspect of the invasion of socialism in our economy being used against farmers.

If you put a meaningless sticker on it that says "organic" fools will pay more than double for it.
Yep. It is amazing what consumer dumbasses will fall for.

No chart necessary. The answer is because the seller and the buyer said so. It requires no explanation. If the price is too high the buyer will not buy it. If it costed $3.00 then that implies someone bought it. No mystery. Case closed.

Complaining about prices is completely 100% stupid. The solution is so easy. Don’t buy it. I don’t think people really need to be educated they just need to be slapped extremely hard on the face for failing to analyze an extremely simple situation.

This “problem” has the most obvious solution but we chose to complicate it for some reason. This isn’t stupidity. This is insanity. This a refusal to accept the obvious reality right in front of your face.

Yeah,..well I didn't buy the motherfucker....so fuck off.

Then maybe tomorrow those grapefruits will be $0.94 if nobody else bought them.

I see lots of cars priced at X but never sell for X. The price isn’t always equivalent to what something costs. Things do get overpriced on occasions and adjustments are made. I worked in. a Deli one time and we had to reprice items that weren’t selling.

I always wanted to reprice items that were selling really good for higher amounts but the system wouldn’t let me.

I don't need a lecture on marketing and economics, nor on supply and demand.
