The theory that the earth is an oblate spheroid was completely counter-intuitive, was mocked for centuries, and it is now so highly probable that it is tentatively regarded as a fact on account of the evidence in support of it. They should not be accepted in the first place unless they are currently as empirically testable as the Theory that the earth is an oblate spheroid. That is the undeniable point that you are dodging. In the meantime, they get shelved and worked on until they come up with a way to test them empirically.
