If the more religious people believe that God was the Creator, then why should it be a contradiction to also believe in evolution.
God would be free to use evolution as one of His tools of Creation,
Many confuse evolution with adaptation. They are not the same thing. Adaptations already exist withing DNA, while mutations are entirely new arrangements and almost universally harmful, making the evolution theories claims mathematically impossible. The number of mutations necessary to account for 'evolution' via natural DNA, and the likelihood of the entire sequence being beneficial and surviving is a lot more 'magical' than the belief in God is. It would also take a far longer time than what it has, on the order of a 100 times or longer. So, despite the whinings of assorted deviants and perverts and sociopaths, the 'intelligent design' theories are actually a lot more 'rational' than the faux 'scientific rationalists' bizarre claims are. Something weaving that tiny needle through millions upon of haystacks doesn't look that bad, comparatively.
