...I see this as an Obama case for why MORE money should have been handed out.

Yes, the loan was taken....Christ, it's been all over the news...Well, at least by news org's that aren't trying to cover for Obama's inept ass.1000 employees--say's a business needs a lot of capital--a low interest Guaranteed loan was more than likely taken--or why would they even mention it in the article. You'll note the republican response in the last paragraph-- indicating it was taken.Says it offered them the loan. Where does it say they took it?
So we know it was actually taken just because the Republicans say so?

If they wanted to stimulate the economy and have solar energy the waive of the future...
the idiots should have used that money as a rebate.....
people buy the solar...and get a nice fat government rebate to off set the cost
green energy is produced
the companies have business
workers are hired and paid
the industry grows with the demand
fucking bunch of idiots.
That's what America needs, to be more like China!China and everyone else subsidizes their green industry, but pubs will only help Big Oil. Brilliant!! Morons...

Solyndra, Solar-Panel Company Visited by Obama in 2010, Suspends Operation - Bloomberg
Solyndra Inc., a maker of solar modules that received a $535 million loan guarantee from the U.S. Energy Department, suspended operations and plans to file for bankruptcy, saying it couldn’t compete with larger rivals.
Not every investment in start-up companies is expected to pay off, Dan Leistikow, director of the Energy Department’s Office of Public Affairs, said today in an article on the agency’s website. “The changing economics have affected a number of solar manufacturers in recent months, including unfortunately, Solyndra,” he said. “We have always recognized that not every one of the innovative companies supported by our loans and loan guarantees would succeed.”

I guess if you think $535 million isn't a big deal it might not be news.
Much like the housing crisis, a lack of proper vetting resulted in a failed loan. One that a good commerical loan officer would have found larger competitors making it very difficult to compete.

535 mil really isn't that much when you consider the Republicans told us the 700 billion we could get from rescinding the Bush tax cuts for the rich isn't much.

Link please. I think they said it was unfair to tax them more and more importantly, might inhibit job growth. Probably why Obama is going to suggest a business tax cut to those who add jobs in small businesses Thursday night.

The guarantee is the government backing the loan. The company filed bankruptcy. It's a government backed loan, meaning that the government is now obligated to pay that loan...Government backed loans must be paid back to the loan issuer....Bankruptcy will not wipe out a backed debt......So, we taxpayers are now obligated to pay a loan for a private company run by Obama's cronies.......It stinks of flat out corruption, if that company was not vetted properly before backing the loan......And obvioulsy, it wasn't properly vetted, seeing as though it filed for bankruptcy shortly after receiving teh guarantee.
An investigation is definitely warranted, straight to Obama himself.
Absolutely T!......If a private company can't function without the government backing their finances, then the company should fold, PERIOD!Gubmint has no business loaning anyone anything. We're talking over a half billion dollars of taxpayers money pissed straight down the damn toilet....And from what i've been reading and hearing about this company, they don't seem to have the future business to warrant reorganization. It's going to fold, period.
