So half an hour of a workers time costs - this is real measurable cost - 24 dollars, lets say people need about 30 minutes to sit down, read Musk's email, check it's relevant to them, identify the kinds of tasks Musk wants, review these and itemize them and draft a reply email.

Musk's email states: "...all federal workers will shortly receive...".

There are 2.3 million federal workers in the country, therefore 2.3 million people must respond (or resign by not responding)

So at 24 dollars cost per person, Musk's request will cost the US taxpayer a minimum of 55,200,000 dollars that's the amount of money wasted here and all prompted by a single drug fueled tweet.

The replies people send are useless, utterly pointless and useless and to read them all even with ten people, would take at least one minute per email which equates to 3,800 hours for each of the ten person team. That comes to each member of Musk's team spending the next 95 weeks reading the replies, let alone checking them for correctness and so on.

So in addition to the $55,200,000 cost of all the workers, we have a team of people (less than 10 I am told, but lets be generous) each paid by the federal government, each of wehom will spend the next two years full time, processing the replies.

Ten people (so called "DOGE" team) at $100,000 per person salary, spending two years on some activity = $2,000,000 dollars - tax payer dollars and all for absolutely nothing, no material benefit whatsoever.

Yet look at the trumpanzees here! They whine about waste of public money and applaud a man who's wasting public money !

When dealing with an over bloated bureaucracy like the federal government, mass layoffs are the only practical way to reduce its size. If and when their absence becomes problematic, they (or their replacements) can be rehired.
